The headline says it all. His replacement Alan Michael Cash will not make the BC game due to the death of his father.

Great. Another QB controversy in Raleigh. What’s new. Beck was bad today. Granted, he had no help, but terrible decisions. In for a long year boys.

  2. Dogbreath 09/08/2007 at 6:24 PM #

O’Brien should be fired if he gives the job back to Evans.

  3. EverettBeez 09/08/2007 at 6:25 PM #

so we finish up with 407 yrds of offense to their 374, 56 yards were rushing.
Of course, they don’t need much offensive when you start from the 31, 14 and 13 yard lines.
4 penalities for 32 yards is a good change from pass years. I didn’t notice any shucking and jiving – did anyone one?
the D deserves a massive shout out – really well done guys.

    is it over?

The ACC was miserable thus far. We really need VT to pull the upset over LSU tonight. The Heels need to beat ECU as well…nah. Go Pirates.

  6. cradletograve 09/08/2007 at 6:29 PM #

how has wofford been so far this year?

  7. terry gannon 09/08/2007 at 6:30 PM #

Any predictions on ECU v. UNC? I didn’t really look at the stats of the UNC-JMU game last week…were the Heels really that good? I watched VT-ECU and ECU did an admirable job IMO defensively against Ore and making Glennon look very average (or worse).

  8. cradletograve 09/08/2007 at 6:30 PM #

    I would take ECU 24-17

Bad decisions?? Yes, several times trying to make something happen when he needed to either throw it away or take the sack.

Help from his OL?? Non-existent. Thanks to the fact that 5-6 guys couldn’t stop 3 pass rushers and they couldn’t get any running game going the LB’s and CB’s could sit in their zones to read the passes, step in and make the INT.

Beck not only has to make better decisions but he has to stop locking in on receivers because he was telegraphing all day.

Positives: We could actually pass the ball and did it a lot with great catch and runs by the receivers/backs. The Defense did a great job, until the 4th when they were out of gas. Until the 4th the D didn’t give up a score unless it came off a short field after a TO.

Summary: Against a Zone D with an average DL it’ll be Groundhog Day. BC’s got a great front seven, how great we’ll see when they go up against a real OL. Quite frankly I don’t expect many improvements this year unless our OL can find a way to run and pass block, other than that they’re awesome!!!

UNC did what any Ia team would do, paly a lot of guys and wear down the Iaa team. ECU will give Carolina a handful, they’ll miss their MLB, he was solid. ECU 20-7.

It would really make my day…as much as I can’t stand the purple and gold…I’d really like to see the Heels down a notch…I guess misery loves company….

What network has the VT LSU game tonight?

  13. EverettBeez 09/08/2007 at 6:36 PM #

never anything miserable about a carolina loss.
Michigan is getting their hats handed to them, again.

I don’t see a Qb controversy, Evans came into to mop the game, protect Beck. Lets hope it didn’t cost us Dunlap and Brown.

  14. EverettBeez 09/08/2007 at 6:36 PM #

    ESPN has VTech and LSU

  15. Wulfpack 09/08/2007 at 6:37 PM #

Beck threw it up for grabs 4 times by my count. Now I know it takes time to develop a young QB, but I will tell you TOB will NOT just excuse it. I saw some good things and a whole lot of bad. He has potential. But he has got to protect the football. We simply are not good enough to keep turning it over.

I haven’t been following close enough this year… what class is beck? back next year? Glennon have a chance to start next year?

  17. 1.21 Jigawatts 09/08/2007 at 6:40 PM #

    Beck – R-So

  18. highonlowe 09/08/2007 at 6:43 PM #

The spread is 6 on UNC+/ECU-, 42 over/under. If I bet, I’d take this one. ECU will keep it closer than 6.

  19. 1.21 Jigawatts 09/08/2007 at 6:45 PM #

    ECU 7
    UNC 3

  20. highonlowe 09/08/2007 at 6:47 PM #

    also –

    UAB 17
    FSU 3

  21. Wulfpack 09/08/2007 at 6:54 PM #

^wow. Evans outperformed Beck in the same manner Beck outperformed Evans last week. I know TOB will NOT be happy with Beck’s performance. It is only fair that Evans get a look in practice. I am not sold on Beck. He has the skills but was reckless today.

  22. EverettBeez 09/08/2007 at 7:03 PM #

several interceptions occurred when the pocket was quickly collapsing on him, and he seemed desperate to get rid of it. He can learn just to wrap it up and take the sack in time. and maybe we’ll get an OL that can give him more time.

We have to do more then try to run the ball up the middle. that will not work this year.

  23. 1.21 Jigawatts 09/08/2007 at 7:04 PM #

I wouldn’t say that Evan outperformed Beck. Evans came in after BC had a comfortable 27 pt lead with 4 minutes left in the game. It’s call Prevent Defense and Dunlap making a great reception from a very good pass.

    Evans stats 3/4 30 yards 1TD.

I’m not saying Beck is the next PR just that I would go with Evans, or Burke, only when Beck isn’t getting it done. If Beck continues to turn the ball over and spot the other team several TD’s then I’d go with a 2 QB system (even though that never works). For all of Becks bad decisions, if your don’t have an OL than can run/pass block then it wouldn’t matter much more if PR was behind center. Does Beck have a long ways to go before he is a solid QB? Yes. Do we have much of a choice? Nope.

  24. Wulfpack 09/08/2007 at 7:12 PM #

Considering Beck played nearly the entire game and couldn’t manage a TD….I’m just saying it’s last week all over and TOB isn’t the type to live with careless TO’s.

Look on the bright side, we’re loaded with late game, backup QB’s! Ones who can come in late and look somewhat competent, it’s just that none of them can overcome the pressure of being a starter, or even moreso, the pressure of untouched defensive linemen.
