Pressley Out Indefinitely With Knee Injury

The headline says it all. His replacement Alan Michael Cash will not make the BC game due to the death of his father.

Go ahead and redshirt him. Let’s save all our good players for a year when we actually can compete.

    I now officially hate sports……

  3. nycfan 09/07/2007 at 2:47 PM #

Very sorry to hear this. I know that injuries are “a part of the game” in football, but the mom in me is heart-broken for the kids.

  4. RickJ 09/07/2007 at 2:49 PM #

Hill, Baker & Pressley – 2 seniors & 1 junior and possibly our best 3 players regardless of position.

Anyone remember the 1995 football season? Seemed like every day you’d open the paper and read, “Wolfpack Football Player Breaks Leg.”

Every day. Someone would get arrested, the moon would fall on them, Chuck Norris would kill them, or they’d develop leprosy and their knee would fall off.

^ And that season ended up being a 3-8 season.

    must be practicing/conditioning too much

just RS the whole team & lets’ get ready for next year.

  8. noah 09/07/2007 at 3:06 PM #

If you don’t win six, you might as well lose ’em all. Get the #1 draft pick.

  9. Rick 09/07/2007 at 3:13 PM #

    That stinks.
Best three players out for season. TOB is runnng uphill.

I hate to be the guy to say it (and I don’t believe injuries to these kids are EVER positive), but this may make us stronger down the line.

  11. ChuckAllYall 09/07/2007 at 3:34 PM #

When I say “down the line” I pretty much mean next year.

  12. McPete 09/07/2007 at 3:51 PM #

Well I guess the German kid gets his chance. can’t redshirt him, i don’t think. maybe he’ll be a stud. or if they try to switch to 3-4 defense, you only need one DT. of course, that one has to be huge. don’t know if we have the personnel for it.

maybe Big Lew can fill in for the Football team…. heck. Costner is a big boy

Call me crazy, but I worry that DeMario enters the draft–not wanting to play the redshirt Sr. season.

    J. Thomas for the bball team is out for the season with a knee inj. The hits just keep on coming. 🙁

  16. TNCSU 09/07/2007 at 4:25 PM #

    packgrad93,
Where’d you see/hear that about Thomas? I think we’re fairly set at the 2/3, and I doubt he’d have seen alot of time this year anyway, but it still isn’t great news.

  17. packgrad93 09/07/2007 at 4:27 PM #

    PP premium board

  18. BJD95 09/07/2007 at 4:31 PM #

No Cash, either? We might as well forfeit on Saturday, or sit out our starters to save them for Wofford!

I will be sea kayaking in San Diego this Saturday. What’s the over/under of how many minutes I’ll be able to stomach of the DVR Tuesday morning?

Just beat Wofford and UNC, and I’m a happy man. 2-10 seems almost delusionally optimistic now.

I find the string of injuries unsettling, but more disturbing is the rampant pessimism in this string of responses. You guys sound like Tarholes! Kwitcherbellyakin already! Suck it up and be proud! We will surprise some teams this year.

I recall someone (who was that? hmmmm…) that said,

“Don’t give up. Don’t EVER give up!”

  20. vtpackfan 09/07/2007 at 4:49 PM #

Sorry DP, prayer’s out to the Cash family. Maybe they will slip alittle 3-4 in there this weekend. Go Pack!

  21. kevirose 09/07/2007 at 4:50 PM #

damnstraight gumby! these boys might surprise us. let’s just ask for, and accept hustle and improvement from game to game. there are several other winable games. .500 is still a good goal to strive for, and that’s where consensus was before the most recent two injuries.

  22. noah 09/07/2007 at 5:07 PM #

Sorry to hear about Johnny Thomas. Wasn’t it just yesterday that we heard that he was better than anticipated?

  23. westwolf 09/07/2007 at 5:09 PM #

Anyone have details about Thomas? Specifics about the injury etc?

  24. BJD95 09/07/2007 at 5:14 PM #

All we can hope for is that our men play hard for 60 full minutes. With our very best effort, we could still lose by 50.

  25. BJD95 09/07/2007 at 5:15 PM #

Thomas is also a player that relies heavily on his speed and athleticism. So a season-ending knee injury could be doubly bad for him.
