New Jersey At Its Finest, Nebraska At Its Finest

We have always had a simple rule when following college football teams. Never pull for a team farther to the East than Penn State, never pull for a team farther to the North than Virginia(Army and Navy are excluded). Guess what fan base is become crude and obnoxious in less than a year?

Quite a contrast from the good folks in Nebraska.

Must have learned from the Maryland fans.

Careful – these guys will whack you and then go for drinks at the Bada Bing.

    Bo, did you mean…

Careful- these guys will go for drinks at the Bada Bing then whack it?

    Bunch of low class… grumble…

Does sound a little more like what these Scarlet Knights might do. More likely they will be toe tapping and giving low fives in the BR stalls at the Bing.

Just one (high school? college? pro?) fanbase of many (most? nearly all? all?)!

“More likely they will be toe tapping and giving low fives in the BR stalls at the Bing.”

I hear they practice the wide stance as well

They do have this real wierd crowd cheer called “chopping wood” (no pun intended — I saw it last year during the L’ville game.

Rutgers needs to limit tailgating to four hours.

Or have some “Scarlet Knights” roaming the parking lots to teach their fans how to behave.

    Yeah, that would fix it.

    Sincerely,
    Jim Oblinger

Reading the article about the Nebraska fans gives me hope that there are more folks like that than there are fans like the ones at Rutgers.
    Keep the faith.

What do you expect from NYC’s over-sized landfill? This guy acts shocked by this story… it doesn’t shock me in the least:

Real nice story about the Nebraska folks.
They are good people for sure.

Blue State; Red State need I say more!

Definitely a great story about the Deacs, Cornhuskers and all those who make the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us.

The student section at BC was very borderline with their taunting of TOB. The had a cheer going in the 4th quarter saying his name. It started out as “Tom-O-Brien” and the intention was clearly to mock TOB. Then after a couple of times. Then Tom was replaced by some of the crowd with “F___-O-Brien”

Nappy headed ……! Exactly my thoughts! Maybe the opponents should sue! Maybe Mike Nyfong could show them how it’s done!

The LSU comparison was very appropriate. I had a very heated argument a few years ago with one of their fans who was taunting an injury to a player on the opposing team. They were just “low class”, they were “no class”!

I listened to portion of the game on the radio and I recall thinking the crowd at BC was not that loud. I heard clapping but not much more. Was the game a sellout?
O; what did you think of the overall atmosphere at the game? Was the crowd loud?
I am watching the game tonight.

In my “hall of fame” for fans bad actions will always be the USC fan who decided to lay some major obscenities on me when “In Todd we trust” had his knee blown out on a hit during the 1989 game. And her young son was sitting right next to me as were her parents sitting on the other side of her.
I’ll never (and I repeat never) attend another USC based function athletic or otherwise.
I hope Spurrier and all of USC rots in …

From my perspective watching on TV, the crowd was very sparse at the beginning of the game. They filled in more as the game progressed, but I was shocked to see how early many of them left. I mean, I know the outcome was pretty much decided by that point, but they were winning! I know many people leave early in a game like that, but I’ve never seen such a mass exodus from C-F, especially if we were winning handily against a conference opponent.

^That’s in reference to the BC crowd this past weekend.

  22. GAWolf 09/11/2007 at 6:09 PM #

The television focused in on the BC students when they were chanting “Tom Obrien”. It was dumb. Especially considering he built the team they are playing with now… the ignorance of the chant ranks right up there with “Overrated!” when a lesser team beats a higher ranked team. A more intelligent quote would be “Underrated!” in my eyes.

Reminds me of the FSU fans in basketball this past year. Do any of you remember what the FSU fans were chanting when they (I should say Thorton) beat us in Basketball in Tallahassee?? “Tarheel Rejects” Truly classless…I hope we beat the snot out of them this year! We could start a “Gator Rejects” chant, but I’m not going to condone that kind of childish behavior — but if the shoe fits….

  24. TNCSU 09/11/2007 at 6:39 PM #

^^Truthfully, they probably just didn’t know how to react winning a basketball game….”Act like you’ve been there before.”

Probably the only time most state fans CHEERED after a player got hurt. Special circumstances, granted…
