If I were a betting man, Clemson would getting my action.

    noah, noah, noah,

    Always the doubter.

I’m with noah on this one. It’s going to be a long day for the team with the worst rushing defense in the ACC.

  4. Luke12321 09/16/2007 at 10:33 PM #

Yeah, I would put my $$ on clemson as well….

  5. GoldenChain 09/16/2007 at 10:37 PM #

No reason Clemson couldn’t do what BC did to us. I’ll take some of that action.

  6. noah 09/16/2007 at 10:44 PM #

No doubts whatsoever. We’re going to lose by nine or more. I’m completely positive about that.

I’ll be pulling for State. I’ll be happy if they win. And I’m NOT a betting man. But yeah, we’re going to lose.

  7. redfred2 09/16/2007 at 10:53 PM #

Who wouldn’t take that action. You have what is supposedly a top twenty team coming in to play a team that just broke a ten game losing streak but only at the expense of a lower division opponent. Not much to dispute there, that is, except the fact that I’m thinking the Pack will make a ballgame of it on Saturday.

  8. Clarksa 09/16/2007 at 11:16 PM #

    ^come on…it was only a 9 game losing streak… 🙂

  9. beowolf 09/17/2007 at 12:03 AM #

Unfortunately, it’s too early in the season for Clemson to go Frankenbowden on us, so yeah, Clemson’s going to beat us.

I see a big day for Andre Brown now that he knows he’s doing the heavy lifting. I’ll take State and 8.5. Put it’s not my lead-pipe lock of the week.

Clemson doesn’t stand a chance. We’re going to kill ’em, kill ’em I tell you! Why when we get through there ain’t going to be nothing left of Clemson but a pile of bloody tiger fur on the ground. I hate to lose and I ain’t NEVER going to admit that it could happen until it does.

  12. haze 09/17/2007 at 8:16 AM #

Cardinal rule: Never bet for/against your own team.

…but I’d take Clemson as well.

We’re getting better but not nearly there yet and we did nothing against Wofford that should inspire real confidence. A win would be awesome though as Tammy is such a putz.

I think we are going to upset them.

I know they should win, but I feel that they were a little flat against Furman….and they only ran for less than 70yds I believe.

I’ve got some positive vibes going on though, so jump on the bandwagon.

I’d say Clemson covers that easily… as in, sometime midway through the second quarter and then doesn’t look back. Good sign for State of course is that I am usually wrong about these.

Especially taking Cal to cover 33 1/2 on Saturday… at least it only cost me a Corona though.

The Iowa/Wisconsin line is interesting… especially for a game at Camp Randall (first half of the Citadel game notwithstanding). Wisconsin should be able to cover 7. Last comment on the lines… I never thought I’d see Kansas a 30 point favorite over anybody.

Should be interesting to see where the line moves as we get closer to Saturday. At least the two teams we have played have turned out to be strong teams. UCF looked impressive against #6 Texas led and almost won. BC is a strong team — perhaps the Conf. Champ this year. So we aren’t losing to patsies. Hopefully, we get stronger and start playing smarter with fewer turnovers and penalties. The turnovers were less Sat. but the penalties are hanging around like an STD.

I think that NC State stands a fighting chance to pull off an upset — if they take what they learned so far this season and continue to improve.

It will take State’s A game, but Clemson is not “all that” quite yet and keep in mind that they held on to their only important win (against FSU) by the skin of their teeth – at home.

This is the perfect game for Clemson to start their underachieving for this season like they’ve done every other season under Bowden.

haze is correct on the cardinal rule. But if I were ever going to bet for/against the Pack, it would be against this week. 8.5? Are you kidding me? I could see it legitimately being twice that. I’m guessing it moves to double digits before kickoff.

  19. BJD95 09/17/2007 at 10:16 AM #

This is a REALLY bad matchup for us. Good running offense, fast and physical defense.

My only hope is that when Vegas sets “sucker” lines, there’s usually a reason. Taking Clemson to cover seems like such an obvious play that it probably isn’t.

NEVER bet on your team to win – it’s a complete jinx. Never bet against your team if the opponent is favored, since they could win the game and not cover, leaving you doubly pissed. Betting against your team as a favorite is OK, you at least win something no matter what.

  20. BoKnowsNCS71 09/17/2007 at 10:29 AM #

That’s exactly why I never bet on the Pack. I want them to score as many as they can. I’m not comfortable with any lead. And I can’t bet on them to lose even if I feel like they will. A loss is something I can’t pull for.

  21. JimValvano 09/17/2007 at 10:39 AM #

That is an odd spread. Something about it smells fishy. I wonder if the bookies know something we don’t…maybe that explains why Clemson flops the way they do. Maybe some of the players are accepting a little cash.

Honest, I love the Pack and usually I am optimistic, but Clemson has two of the best running backs in the COUNTRY. We are playing without our best defensive tackle and our #3 defensive tackle, our middle linebacker is injured, and we are thin at linebacker. All of that does not add up to us being a 8.5 point dog. It should be more like 13.5 based on how we’ve played thus far and how Clemson has played.

This spread encourages me. I think that we may win. It may be a tainted win, but a win none-the-less…and I’ll take it.

Stranger things have happened against Clemson than us covering vs. the Tigers this year. Sheridan’s second year we were absolutely horrible (we finished 4-7 that year with a loss to E. Tennessee State, coincidentally, coached then by the current Wofford coach). Clemson came in top 20 at least (can’t remember if they were top 10). We bolted out to a 30-0 lead at halftime, and then had to hold on in the 2nd half as they came storming back (Sheridan’s unfortunate propensity to sit on a lead didn’t help). We won 30-28–I think we got a turnover at the end on a Clemson drive deep into our territory for the winning score. Come to think of it, that game was actually at Clemson.

  23. SixPack 09/17/2007 at 11:12 AM #

The spread should be at least 14 points minimum. I agree
    something stinks in Vegas !

  24. partialqualifier 09/17/2007 at 11:20 AM #

First of all….I Love NC State!

However….if Clemson loses to us on Saturday, Tommy Bowden should have to take a cab back to Clemson Saturday!! His team is far, far superiour to ours. If we had Pressley then I would say that maybe they don’t rush for 300 yards and we have a shot. But seriously guys…if you saw what I saw on Saturday then you saw that we are not that much better than Wofford. They outgained us despite having no passing game. And if not for the gimme 21 points we got from their turnovers…it is a 17-17 game at HOME! Other than the first drive of the game…we couldnt get more than 2 first downs on a drive the rest of the game…against a team that didnt look much bigger than my highschool team this year.

Again….I love NC State..and I hope like hell we win…but Vegas is being way too kind to us!

I am not excited about seeing Davis and Spiller whatsoever.
Clemson’s DL is just nasty, so I’d be surprised if we have much success running the ball. The deep ball is where we may steal a few. If we can get lucky and couple that with a few tiger turnovers then we have a chance.

partial – we outrushed them 217 to 211.
