10 Points Against Louisville (UofL 29, NC State 10)

The Cardinals’ secondary has been burned on long passes all season. So what does the Wolfpack do? Come out throwing short slants, screens and bootleg passes to the tight end in the first half. Go figure.

Doesn’t really surprise me. I didn’t think we’d do much.

I don’t think we will do much against any D1 team. We will be spared the ignominy of losing to Dook simply because we don’t play them. I don’t believe we will win another game this season.

I pointed this out in the game thread…there were several plays where our right tackle failed to lay a single finger on the man lined up inches in front of him.

7 of those 10 are the direct result of a 60 yards in the air jump ball. From the guy with a separated shoulder. So, I guess we are lucky not to have finished with 3.

Once you get past high school, offensive line is the single most important component to consistent, winning football… Indications are this will be remedied a couple of years down the road.

BTW, you know how bad it’s gotten?

State fans are now complaining that Marcus Stone isn’t our QB. That’s how far down we’re reaching. Stone’s the only QB I’ve ever seen that could make Cam Young look like Steve Young.

Losing causes one to reach for each and every possible “solution”– no matter how ludicrous… because it’s different.

But I don’t have to tell you that, Noah, ehh?

  6. BJD95 09/29/2007 at 7:59 PM #

Cam Young. What a bad memory that is.

I still think my, “punt on first down” strategy has merits. 🙂

    ^ Take ’em by surprise?

  9. BJD95 09/29/2007 at 8:02 PM #

QB play and playcalling are WAY down the list of our problems – but still almost the exclusive complaint from the Section 27 peanut gallery.

That’s one of the reasons I stopped getting season tickets. We’d run the ball a couple of times and get stuffed and some moron would stand up and scream, “THROW THE DAMN BALL!”

We’d pass and it would get picked off and the same genius would stand up, completely free of irony or sarcasm and scream, “RUN THE DAMN BALL!”

The peak, though, was the guy who screamed that we needed to run the non-TA fumbling play where we score a touchdown.

  11. BJD95 09/29/2007 at 8:04 PM #

A quick kick would be cool, but with our OL, we’d probably get it blocked.

Our line has gotten the QB broken 2 straight weeks. How long can the much lighter and slower Evans stay in one piece?

  12. Dr. BadgerPack 09/29/2007 at 8:05 PM #

BJD95- So that’s where the geniuses sit now?

(Yeah, I’m more chatty than usual today)

  13. noah 09/29/2007 at 8:05 PM #

Badger, punting is the only way we can get the ball down near our goalline. Punt, then run down and try and strip it, punt again, do the same thing….eventually, we’ll score!

  14. Dr. BadgerPack 09/29/2007 at 8:06 PM #

Put a receiver in at QB, with Brown and Eugene in the backfield… add a fullback and we’ve got the wishbone BABY!

  15. BJD95 09/29/2007 at 8:07 PM #

I almost turned around to ask a guy if he was dropped on his head as a child. Fortunately, I am mellowing a bit with age.

  16. Dr. BadgerPack 09/29/2007 at 8:08 PM #

Noah- so throw the ball 70 yards downfield, then punt… pick would be as good as the punt (since odds are we wouldn’t strip anyway)…

When did you graduate, by the way?

  17. noah 09/29/2007 at 8:09 PM #

I think Bradley Pierson should be our starting RT. I’m quite sure that he could do better than Green. Dont bother trying to block, just tickle his ribs or something. That’s more than Green did.

never forget–the real culprit, CTC, has flown the coop (and our crosshairs)

Did MD hold on? Fear the turtle. Or more accurately, don’t fear the Big East.

In last week’s homework questions, I said the only good football was being played in the SEC and Pac 10. I feel even better about that assessment today.

I wonder where all the people went who proclaimed Amato the 2nd coming of Bear Bryant or Knute Rockne? 🙂

Without Rivers Amato probably would have been canned after 4 years with about 20 total wins.

  22. Dr. BadgerPack 09/29/2007 at 8:11 PM #

BJD- MD 34-24 (i think- I know MD won)

  23. noah 09/29/2007 at 8:11 PM #

BJD – yes, they won by 10.

Cal held on and won. They ought be up around #2 or #3 next week, seeing as how three top-10 teams lost this week. DeSean Jackson ought to be getting some Heisman attention, IMO.

Huh… I overlapped a couple of year w/ you Noah… Thought you were a bit older (no offense)
