Sad story – my prayers go out to his family.

  2. graywolf 07/26/2007 at 5:32 PM #

Prayers are extended to his family.

Has a big 4 basketball coach ever died while still an active coach or is this a first?

  3. Astral Rain2 07/26/2007 at 5:39 PM #

Let’s just hope it is a last for a long time. Condolences to his family and Wake. He seemed like a class act.

May God be with the Prosser family and the Wake Forest community. Prosser seemed like a class act and Wake Forest remains one of the classiest schools in the conference.

Wow… Shocking news. Seemed like a nice and classy guy. condolences to the family. 🙁

Man, such a sudden loss – my prayers go out with Coach Prosser’s family, friends and his players who will all feel the loss of an honorable man like Coach Prosser deeply.

    Graywolf,

Coach Case was pretty close. I guess the difference was he had been ill for a while, stepped down, and Press was filling in for him before he died.

    🙁 Shocking news…

The guy was pretty cool. I’m very sorry, as are all of you, to hear of this.

I got a chance to run across him in the Philly airport one time. And I’m not the kind of guy to get starstruck…in fact the reverse.

    Every day is a blessing.

You know the cool thing about State fans is that we have our rivalries and those we hate but when it comes down to people and honor and admiration — we actually are one ACC. The bash and banter is fun — but there is this connection that connects us all and it nourishes us.

Was anybody else listening to 850 this afternoon when Chris Clark announced the news on this? Maybe it’s my acute disdain for the guy, but I swear he announced it in the most tactless, non-chalant way.

Is there a public petition against Chris Clark? I know a lot of people that don’t listen to 850 because of him personally. I’m too lazy/busy most days to turn it off after Rome, but I figured this Prosser thing may make me write to somebody at 850 about what a douchebag he is.

    prayers to the wake fam.

Seriously, this is sad, horrible news. I know it’s been said, but I wanna add my condolences to the family, friends, and team of Prosser.

    Horrid news
    He was too young

    theHowling:
yes it is your acute disdain for the guy. I heard CC announce it on the radio and he sounded shocked. he was understated, not indifferent. Prosser was a guest on that station plenty of times, so i doubt anyone there disliked him.

Maybe too early to say this, but if the 2008 recruits decommit over this, i hope none of them end up at other acc schools (who were recruiting these guys). it would be beyond distasteful.

I want to add my voice to those offering prayers to the Deacon nation. Having recently gotten out of a long stay in the hospital myself, I can reiterate the obvious: it’s health, health, health.

May all the Wake family be comforted in this dark time.

Prosser was an outstanding coach and person everything I’ve seen and read about him. The ACC has lost one of the conferences great representatives.

This may be a bit early for some to talk about but I know of an outstanding coach that has had great success at small private schools and has a high level of familiarity with the ACC. This coach also worked as an assistant under two of the best coaches in ACC history.

    Howling:

You’re the only person I’ve ever heard of that dislikes CC. He is informative, even-keeled, unbiased and often humorous. Gold’s schtick is more over-the-top, but I like them both.

  20. lush 07/27/2007 at 11:18 AM #

^ they are both awful. but ill take CC over Gold any day.

I would like to add my condolenses to the Prosser family and the larger Wake community. It’s a sad day for the ACC, and it really makes you think about what is truly important – Health, Family and Friends. PapaJohn,
Thanks for the link to the Seth Davis article – a very nice article.

i had the opportunity to sit next to coach prosser at an awards banquet back in fall 03—he was the guest speaker—he was electric—his energy was contagious—i remember most his reference to the sign that he said that he kep on his desk—a quote from winston churchill—‘never surrender’—he spoke of how he was always attempting to mold his team in this image—i believe that his teams reflected this creed—and—that he instilled in many that he touched this mindset—may God bless his family—and—may his spirit live on in the form of the good works that the many he touched may perform in the future

  23. BoKnowsNCS71 07/27/2007 at 2:24 PM #

Only thing I don’t like about CC is that he talks on and on in this boring conversation with himself rather than interviewing anyone or taking a caller. I just figured no one was interested in calling in so he was filling air time.

Adam is good. I don’t like the 3-way or 4-way in the AM. The negative side is that it sounds like The View and it’s like a “Ok — who can we make fun of next” format. That gets old. Can one day ever go by without a gratuitous Barry Bonds comment?

Bringing in non-sports folks is interesting — He ought to get John McCain on — at this point MaCain would probably jump at any chance to get air time. I also think some chat with NASCAR type folks would be of interest (Darryl Waltrip, Richard Petty, Jr, et al) — they are all from around here or living here in NC and can provide a lot of good chat even on stuff that is not pure NASCAR.

But I read that Imus is nearing a settlement with CBS and hopes to sign Boomer to do the AM show — so the end of this experiment is not far off. As for me — If Bob and Tom comes back into the RDU area or Imus goes XM/Sirius — then 850 is only going to have me after those shows.

  24. vtpackfan 07/27/2007 at 5:31 PM #

I can’t stand the new format in the am. I won’t even dial in to 850 until after work. No disrepect but whatever talent this Terry guy brings to the table is still being with held.

Joe Ovies doesn’t get much involved, and Tony Rigsby doesn’t say a word anymore. It sucks.

    P.S. Bemanti Jones is awesome.

Terrible news, and a cold slap in the face for us guys somewhere around that age. Hate it for the Prosser family, his wife and kids, that’s just way too young to go. Same for the Wake Forest community, they’ll miss him, but they are in very competent hands and the folks in charge there will pick up and carry on with Skip Prosser’s good work.
