State to Host Marist

NC State fans will get an opportunity to show their appreciation to their beloved Wolfpack after Marist upset Oklahoma State tonight. This evening’s events create an opportunity for NC State to host Marist on Friday night at 9:30pm (television -ESPNU).

Many fans would like to see State play the game in Reynolds Coliseum – especially those fans that remember the amazing/electric atmosphere’s that accompanied State’s NIT appearances in 1997 and 1998.

But, NC State may have a ‘venue problem’ as the RBC Center is scheduled to host a Josh Groban concert and Reynolds Coliseum is scheduled to host a gymnastics meet at 7pm.

If the gymnastics meet can’t be moved up in the day, then we hope that the meet would be shifted somewhere like Dorton Arena, Peace, Saint Mary’s, Meredith, Broughton, Cardinal Gibbons or some other local facility.

One of the members of our community has shared the following:

The NIT website shows our game as “Marist vs. N.C. State” while all the other confirmed 2nd round matchups are listed as “at” the higher seed.

Our game is listed is being on ESPNU at 9:30, but with another 2nd round game also on ESPNU at 9:00. One of the four games listed is on Saturday at noon, rather than Friday night, so there is some precedent of Saturday games.

If those listings (particularly the Friday night TV listings) are accurate, it might be possible to move the game to Saturday. If it is the sole game on a given network in its timeslot, probably no chance at all for a move.

Presumably, there is no possibility of using RBC at any point Sat-Mon, due to the NCAA women’s tournament.

The longer we hear “radio silence”, the more nervous I get.

Move the gymnastics. Men’s BBall takes priority. Reynolds rocks!

I’m torn on the tv issue. Since I won’t be in town to the go to the game, I sure would like for it to be on television.

FWIW – my wife called the WPC this morning, and was told that the game will be Friday, seating is general admission, and that tickets will NOT be sold on priority. First come, first served.

Don’t take that as gospel, since who knows if the person she talked with has the right info or not.

GoPack has location and TV/Media TBA…. so they arent admitting an ESPNU slot…

Maybe we should play inn g’ville. Remember they used CF for a victory against Miami. What do ya’ll think. We would love to have y’all down east.

This is getting ridiculous. Called the Wolfpack Office at 8:00 AM and no one knew anything. The person answering the phone said they would post something on Gopack as soon as they had info. Doesn’t look good for the out of towners who need to make arrangements.

WOW… wait a minute…. fucking GoPack also has a big L in the win/lose column for the Drexel game!!!! WTF?!?!?!

  9. branjawn 03/14/2007 at 9:38 AM #

We have to rely on GoPack.com?? We’re screwed.

After a little checking in on Marist, I think the following items are pretty interesting:

The Red Fox (I’m guessing the animal, not the actor) point guard Jared Jordan leads the nation in assists. The nation. 8.9 per game. He’s a 6-2 187 PG that can play.

They are an outstanding defensive rebounding team. They are in the top 20 in defensive rebounding. Led by 7 foot center James Smith.

Perimeter defense and getting to glass on our defensive end is going to be huge… duh.

People ripping on Lee Fowler? I guess that’s no surprise since the last 2 whipping boys are now in warmer climates – Arizona and Florida.

How about a third “the three amigos?”

Looking around gopack.com for anything related to alternate sites.

Happen to click on the “Fan Guides” link on the left hand side. Here is the resulting page:

Warning – you will not be happy.

Another gopack.com classic by Annabelle. She is the “project leader”; is she not?

  14. primacyone 03/14/2007 at 9:56 AM #

Oh well, copy and paste, or just go to gopack.com and and click on “fan guides” under “follow the wolfpack” along the left hand side.

I GUESS OUR FEARLESS LEADER LEE FOWLER, DIDNT ANTICIPATE US WINING ANY MORE MORE GAMES, AND DIDNT HAVE THE FORESIGHT TO SET ASIDE REYNOLDS FOR SUCH USE. WHAT A LEADER WE HAVE IN FOWLER. I GUESS IN THE PAST 10 YEARS HE GOT USED TO GETTING BEAT IN THE FIRST ROUND OF EVERY TOURNAMENT WE GET INTO AND DIDNT THINK IT WOULD BE NECESSARY. GLAD TO SEE A CONTINGENCY PLAN WAS IN PLACE BYU THE NCSU ADMINISTRATORS.

    Joe

Live stats wasn’t working and there wasn’t even anything listed about the Drexel game on gopack last night, not that I saw anyway. I guess you think the boys and girls in Raleigh really have their act together?

  17. Rick 03/14/2007 at 10:01 AM #

“I don’t see why this should take to figure out. Should have been a plan in place a while ago with the high possiblity of making the NIT.”

A lack of planning by our admin.

    SHIOCKING, I tell you. SHOCKING

  18. RickJ 03/14/2007 at 10:07 AM #

    Play it at Broughton.

  19. Gene 03/14/2007 at 10:09 AM #

    Play it at Broughton.

    Broughton’s gay. Play at Enloe!

I’ll take the high road. Schedules can be changed. Arrangements can be made but not at Internet speed.

They’ll make arrangements for the game and everything will be all right. And yes — we’ll probably have to wait a while longer to hear about it.

As for arrangements. Hotel reservations can be made in Raleigh. If for some reason it (and I doubt this) would not be held in Raleigh, there is no penalty for a cancellation.

The team can fly here and there, playing basketball games in strange cities night after night, but no one can sit down in the confines of their own office and make an efort to do the live stats like should be, and is EXPECTED from the gopack site.

If you want to know why certain people have said we couldn’t compete with programs like UNC, there is your example. They can’t even do their own jobs.

  22. Rochester 03/14/2007 at 10:11 AM #

Let’s play in Tampa. We did well down there.

  23. Gene 03/14/2007 at 10:11 AM #

Can’t the timing of the gymnastics meet be moved up an hour or so? That would be the easiest thing to do, in my opinion and than hold the game at Reynolds. I know the Admin won’t want to hold a game at Reynolds, because they’ll lose ticket revenue, but for fans it would be nice to have a somewhat meaningful game there….Admin worry about what fans would appreciate…what am I thinking about…

    Red,

You are correct. You would at least think they could get the picture of Herb off NC State Basketball Fan Guide they have on gopack.com.

Please tell me Annabell knows we have a new coach.

Why the hell is Herb on the gopack.com Fan Guide? Why?
