Redux of Castrated Turkeys Redux

There’s good mojo associated with that thread title, so we will have to stick with it, despite the God-awful syntax. The winner will get a steamrolling (and hopefully overconfident) UNC squad tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Believe it or not, Jeff is stuck at a wedding and is limited to e-mail. He had a couple of items to pass along, as a warm-up to “game thread” action:

– James T. Valvano would have turned 61 today, God rest his soul. Will that lead to some divine intervention? SFN is not ruling it out.

– NC State’s 14-point deficit was the second-largest halftime margin overcome in ACCT history. #1, of course, is the infamous NC State collapse against Maryland in the semifinals a few years back. You might remember that especially for our manager drawing a technical from Larry Rose for taking too long to wipe up the court.

– “The Jacket” is now 3-0.5.

The action will commence shortly.

Halftime Update: That was not a good last minute. You can’t let the Hokies get that second possession and the chance (which was realized) for positive momentum entering the half. It’s a decent 6-point lead, but it feels mighty tenuous, especially given how little VT has gotten from Zabian Dowdell. Of course, we didn’t get much from our bigs, either. Horner and Nieman? Money. Ferguson? Competent. Atsur? Everybody needs to think good thoughts. We are not tired. If we lose, that won’t be the reason. The guys have shown great adrenaline and determination.

Poor finish. We should be up 10+, not 6.

We’re shooting GREAT!!! It’s all these stupid TO’s. We’d be blowing them out if we didn’t have so many.

Don’t changes clothes anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s still working. I even made sure I’m drinking the same beer as the last two nights!

I’ll take a 6 point lead this half and add another 6 point lead in the second!

I’m wondering if physical fatigue that hasn’t manifested itself yet in their bodies is causing some serious mental fatigue and lapses.

I think GAWolf is spot on about Ben and Brandon. They are holding the ball after the pass until the doubleteam comes and then they get into serious trouble, usually a TO or bad shot.

The last two wins depended on Coach Lowe’s half-time changes to overcome halftime deficits.

This win will depend on Coach Lowe’s half-time changes to overcome the fact that at least two of our guys aren’t able to play 100%.

Still — Atsur injured, Fells tweaked, and we’re up 6 at the half? Not bad at all.

be glad if you do not have to watch this game with Vitale on the mic

I agree this isn’t out best half and we’re still up. Hopefully we can keep guys rested and continue to run a great offensive set. VT is vulnerable to the back door, need to keep using it to stay in their heads.

    CPF, tomorrow at Benchwarmers??

Cliff Ellis trotting out the “State wants in the 50s…” crap yet again. Unreal. It’s like if he keeps repeating himself often enough, he believes it will become true.

  10. moomba78 03/10/2007 at 5:16 PM #

    we need to go inside.

  11. tvp 03/10/2007 at 5:19 PM #

Costner scores down low. Washington has 3, BC should post him up every time down.

  12. GAWolf 03/10/2007 at 5:19 PM #

Right there. Catch the ball and go straight up. Good job Brandon.

Fells is really struggling. If he could get hot we’d be dangerous.

ACC refs truly are the worst in the country. These calls are crazy… both ways.

  14. 1.21 Jigawatts 03/10/2007 at 5:24 PM #

Zero consistancy from the refs. I wonder what they’ll not call at one end then call on the other end next??

  15. Astral Rain 03/10/2007 at 5:33 PM #

I guess neither team wears Blue so the refs are confused…

  16. 1.21 Jigawatts 03/10/2007 at 5:34 PM #

I don’t know, looks like the only thing we’ve got left is fumes and sheer will. I wonder just how much will we have left and will it be enough?

  17. Tau837 03/10/2007 at 5:35 PM #

Feels like we should be winning by a lot more. I’m getting worried that we’re letting them hang around.

  18. Tau837 03/10/2007 at 5:36 PM #

Stupid interview with Rodney Monroe, but cool to see him there.

  19. Tau837 03/10/2007 at 5:38 PM #

    4 on Costner. Uh oh.

  20. Tau837 03/10/2007 at 5:39 PM #

    Finally… McCauley!

  21. Tau837 03/10/2007 at 5:40 PM #

Why does Horner seem reluctant to shoot the 3?

  22. BJD95 03/10/2007 at 5:40 PM #

    That’s ok. More Horner!

  23. Tau837 03/10/2007 at 5:44 PM #

Tech’s guards are heating up and our legs are looking shaky.

  24. Astral Rain 03/10/2007 at 5:44 PM #

    So Nervous right now…

When you bring Costner back in? 6 mins?

  25. nsj 03/10/2007 at 5:46 PM #

What’s Grant thinking? That layup barely drew iron…
