NIT Game Specifics

The administration was able to work this out exactly as it should be. (Link) The gymnastics meet has been moved to 4pm.

One thing that the announcement does not cover is what time will the doors open for the basketball game? With general admission seating for the basketball game and the gymnastics event limiting how early the doors will open…this piece of information is important.

The following is from the announcement and edited for some additional information that we have received:

Following Tuesday night’s win at Drexel, the NC State men’s basketball team will continue its quest for the NIT Championship at home on Friday night. Sidney Lowe and company will play host to Marist in Reynolds Coliseum in a game that tips off at 9:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The sixth-seeded Wolfpack (19-15) upset third-seed Drexel on Tuesday, while seventh-seeded Marist (25-8) won at second-seed Oklahoma State. The winner of the game will advance to play the winner of the West Virginia-UMass game on the road next week.

All seating for the game is general admission and tickets can be purchased for $20. Wolfpack Club members can purchase tickets from 2 p.m. today until the game is sold out. Any tickets not purchased by Wolfpack Club members by noon on Thursday will go on sale to the general public. Because of high call volume, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online at gopack.com, but the numbers to the ticket office are 919/865-1510 or 1-800-310-PACK.

Fans purchasing tickets will be able to pick them up on Friday between noon and 6:30 p.m. at the Vaughn Towers box office at Carter-Finley Stadium. Any tickets not picked up during that time will be at the Reynolds will-call window on Friday evening.

There will be a special code for Wolfpack Club members which will be required at the gopack.com site beginning at 2 pm. Additionally, there will be a limit of six tickets per account.

NC State students can purchase tickets for $5 at the athletic ticket office on Trinity Road, or at Reynolds between 10 am and 2 pm on Thursday.

    Pack City is in Utah.

We were speaking about media specifically generated from an appearance in the NIT.

    Captain

Doesn’t really matter who quoted it, it is a mention from a national media outlet.

I do agree though, the NIT carries almost no weight at all, especially when compared to the NCAA. I don’t expect the national media to be ablaze with anything that is the NIT. BUT, if there is a kid out there RIGHT NOW who may have already been contacted by the program, one who is undecided but leaning, he will be watching and paying close attention to these events.

As far as media coverage goes, you have to start somewhere. Now that some of the local media are starting to shed a positive light, it will branch out and evolve into better national recognition of the program.

^^ And what kid who has already been contacted can’t feel the excitement growing around this program?

  4. redfred2 03/15/2007 at 10:47 AM #

Not too sure what are you asking?

I’m sure some kid was very excited when we won games during the regular season and the ACCT but that doesn’t mean we should have just stopped playing back then. Dick Vitale was all over Drexel, saying they were robbed and on and on, then we go to there place after 4 days of tough BB, no rest, and beat them on their home court. That DOES mean something for anyone looking and the future of the program.

There is a huge and positive storyline behind all of this. Just because everyone in the national media isn’t sitting up taking notice RIGHT NOW, like us Wolfpack diehards, doesn’t mean that that story won’t get out later on.

well put red^^ i also just vant be excited enough that the srudents are showing interest again. from the beginning of they year when we had virutally no student support in the stands to right now has been amazing. Sid has the students believing which is really important. the other impertant thing is that Fowler hasnt swooped in and tried to lay claim to all the positive Pub. he has laid back and is allowing kids to be kids… camping out to get tix. having a good time, enjoying being a wolfpack fan.. it is good to see that again

    sorry for all the typos^

I agree with BobLee. Loweville sucks, and it’s incredibly derivative.

I was thinking that the Lowe Road had a ring to it. Maybe not, though.

    I second Sid City.

  9. highonlowe 03/15/2007 at 11:40 AM #

We’re a science and technology university, not an arts college like unx. Who cares what the pseudo-city is called? What’s important is that students are camping out! The kids love the team enough to camp out and admin is letting finally them.

I’m REALLY not trying to put a wet blanket on the current excitement. This horse died several threads ago. Just to get my point across: I would imagine that any prospective recruit not already in the fold that we are thinking of recruiting or have contacted.. I would imagine that they don’t give a damn about the NIT, whether we are in it or not. 4 star recruits don’t come to your school and don’t consider your school for a stirring NIT run. 3 stars probably don’t either. The dream is to get to the NCAA and make history, get on TV, etc. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to guess that no McD All America that hasn’t made a decision yet gives a hair on a rats ass about the NIT. In fact, that may be used against you in the recruiting wars. *Look, your school goes to the NIT and ours goes to the NCAA. Do you want a chance at a national championship or do you want to go to New York for the losers bracket?*

Ok, F**ktard Digger mentioned the Pack and “Engine” Atsur on the air. Who watches the NIT besides the analysts assigned to do the games on ESPN2 or ESPNU and the fans of the schools involved. No one watches, no one cares. Quick, without looking it up, who did South Carolina beat in the last 2 NIT championships? Who was the NIT champion the year before South Carolina’s 2 in a row? You can’t remember because you weren’t watching it or caring about it when the Pack was in the NCAA.

Please don’t get me wrong. I want the Pack’s run to continue up to and include a championship in New York. I can’t wait till tomorrow to see how they do and hopefully catch some video or footage of the game in Reynolds. But really, if you think this NIT run is influencing some 3 or 4 star or McD recruit (the type we want, right?) into coming to State because of the “exposure”, I think you are delusional.

In my opinion this particular NIT appearance is a tangible reward for the hard work of this team. Forget the prestige thing for a moment and remember that. It’s for them and the fans to enjoy this last run. Screw the whole media thing.

  18. RedTerror29 03/15/2007 at 2:27 PM #

The NIT is huge because it is giving us an opportunity to play at Reynolds, giving our fans the opportunity to show Sid and the team how much we appreciate what they’ve done. This is generating a lot of fan excitement going into next year. And full stands in the RBC Center will help sway recruits who are there for games next year. So yes, there is an indirect benefit to going to the NIT. It ain’t the Dance, but it sure beats sitting at home.

  19. redfred2 03/15/2007 at 3:46 PM #

Uh Capt, so give me the reason you think JJ Hickson or any of these kids are coming to NCSU now, and I sure as HELL hope you are smarter than to say it is because of our past glory in recent NCAAT’s or anywhere else there was a WOLFPACK BB UNIFORM in sight for that matter.

The fact is NO, we did make the NCAAT this season, but the potential 5/4 or 3 star kids, along with their parents/coaches are watching, reading or listening and I say they are still paying attention to the program even in the NIT. Those people aren’t as dumb and short sighted as some of the current NCSU fans. They are even smart enough to figure out and understand exactly why we didn’t make the NCAAT this season. They want to know as much about the new philosophy of SIDNEY LOWE at NC STATE, and those parents may just decide that that is where they want to be.

Sidney Lowe can’t do anything better for himself and the program than to keep playing in the same manner and with the same will to win that they displayed in the ACCT.

We don’t want local 5 star talent so let’s all send out a flood of e-mails to the N&O, and Digger while we’re at it, telling them we’re fed up and saying:

“PLEASE STOP, NO MORE POSITIVE ARTICLES OR COMMENTARY ON THE WOLFPACK. YOU GUYS CAN GO TO WRITTING ABOUT THE TARHEELS, BUT THANKS ANYWAY.”

  20. redfred2 03/15/2007 at 3:49 PM #

omitted word…YOU GUYS CAN GO “BACK” TO WRITTING

  21. redfred2 03/15/2007 at 3:53 PM #

^^lots of typos…but hopefully you get the jist.

A Pack-grad Judge suggested to me that the fans should stick around in Reynolds after the game Friday night… WIN OR LOSE… and let the team come out and be recognized for what they’ve acheived this year. That would be fantastic for the guys, the staff, and the fans. Not to mention it’s a genius media play that would definitely get the attention of the area journalists if not those throughout the country. It would definitely promote the idea that everyone here is on the same page now.

The powers-that-be should definitely make that happen if at all possible.

  23. WolftownVA81 03/15/2007 at 5:30 PM #

I’m up for that. A beer or two on Hillsborough can wait a while. The team really seemed to appreciate the welcome given them by the fans outside of the Drexel gym on Tuesday. I’m sure they would also appreciate this effort. Great idea – even if from a member of the legal community.

Always a smack about a lawyer… I don’t get it. Let it go already people… it’s a job. I hate suburban driving soccer moms on cell phones but you don’t see me slipping a stab at ’em every chance I can on message boards about sports.

Yo Burnburn… WTF does 11.2 mean? I’m in Raleigh and I set my DVR for Sat 8pm on 212, even though the schedule still says News or something like that.
