NIT Game Specifics

The administration was able to work this out exactly as it should be. (Link) The gymnastics meet has been moved to 4pm.

One thing that the announcement does not cover is what time will the doors open for the basketball game? With general admission seating for the basketball game and the gymnastics event limiting how early the doors will open…this piece of information is important.

The following is from the announcement and edited for some additional information that we have received:

Following Tuesday night’s win at Drexel, the NC State men’s basketball team will continue its quest for the NIT Championship at home on Friday night. Sidney Lowe and company will play host to Marist in Reynolds Coliseum in a game that tips off at 9:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The sixth-seeded Wolfpack (19-15) upset third-seed Drexel on Tuesday, while seventh-seeded Marist (25-8) won at second-seed Oklahoma State. The winner of the game will advance to play the winner of the West Virginia-UMass game on the road next week.

All seating for the game is general admission and tickets can be purchased for $20. Wolfpack Club members can purchase tickets from 2 p.m. today until the game is sold out. Any tickets not purchased by Wolfpack Club members by noon on Thursday will go on sale to the general public. Because of high call volume, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online at gopack.com, but the numbers to the ticket office are 919/865-1510 or 1-800-310-PACK.

Fans purchasing tickets will be able to pick them up on Friday between noon and 6:30 p.m. at the Vaughn Towers box office at Carter-Finley Stadium. Any tickets not picked up during that time will be at the Reynolds will-call window on Friday evening.

There will be a special code for Wolfpack Club members which will be required at the gopack.com site beginning at 2 pm. Additionally, there will be a limit of six tickets per account.

NC State students can purchase tickets for $5 at the athletic ticket office on Trinity Road, or at Reynolds between 10 am and 2 pm on Thursday.

^^My girlfriend is taking a big one for the team. She went way out of way to arrange to leave work early on Friday so we could watch the Notre Dame game (she’s a big Golden Domer). Now I’m making her hit the road to Raleigh with me instead.

^^^looks like I have to depend on my girlfriend to get her lazy ass up and in line by 10 am tomarrow morning!!!! man…. if she screws this up, is that grounds for dumping her after a 3 year relationship?!?!

YES! If you do, let me know, ’cause my WIFE would never stand in line for me! 🙂

“We want to ‘give credit’ for something as simple as getting an important basketball game scheduled?

I didn’t beat my wife last night…somebody give me an award.”

You’ve taken him to task for small things as well.

I didn’t kiss my wife goodbye today … someone take an axe to my brain.

  4. TNCSU 03/14/2007 at 3:22 PM #

You guys are teaching your girlfriends right! My wife is from the Midwest, and just doesn’t “GET” Tobacco Road Basketball.

  5. RedTerror29 03/14/2007 at 3:26 PM #

I think she’ll have a better understanding after attending the game Friday. The whole wearing sundresses to football games was enough of a shock to her.

  6. packpigskinfan23 03/14/2007 at 3:30 PM #

hahahaha… in a seriousness my girlfriend loves NCState basketball.

however… she HATES waking up early. but I think the fact that we get to see THIS team, in THAT arena will be enough. I just wish I could go and wait in line with her.

    damn work…..

My girlfriend likes to sleep past 10am on the weekends. I say, “but you’re wasting half the day!” – man I got old quick.

*This link has already been posted, but I wanted to point it out to those saying that playing in the NIT would mean zilch in the media.*

Refred, granted, WRAL is technically considered media, but my post saying our exposure would end at the conclusion of the ACCT was really intended to mean national print media. I did point out print media later on, but not national print media.

In any case, national print media is too damn concerned with the NCAAT to bother writing anything besides a post-game recap for anything happening in the NIT. As of yesterday when you went to the ESPN men’s college basketball page and searched for NIT, there were 3 matches. One for a “top search item”, one for NIT season tipoff, and one from the word, Infiniti. Today there are search matches for game summaries, but there are no previews, no game analysis, no brackets, no feel good stories for NIT participants, no nothing. Nothing linked directly from the front page besides game recaps anyway.

In the national print media, the NIT truly is completely ignored. When the #1 sports media outlet can’t even be bothered to put up a bracket or link to it from your men’s basketball page, it shows they really could care less about the NIT.

This is what I mean by exposure. Recruits are smart these days, but how many 4 star prospects that are out there that we may look to pursue are really perusing wral.com for feel good stories about the wolfpack. Come on now, lets get real. Don’t get me wrong, its a great story and I loved reading it, but I harbor no illusions.

Captain… what a way to CRAP on a board full of joy….

who cares. I dont give to CRAPS about the media right now.

I just cant wait to see some good basketball.

    to=two

Pigskin, with all due respect, you are right, this thread was not the place to discuss that. But you have to see the big picture. Redfred was responding to something I posted 4 or 5 stories ago when the dicussion centered around whether we should even care about being in the NIT. I had to respond in this thread because it was the one I was called out on.

I don’t care about the media too much either. I’m enjoying the run and can’t wait for Friday’s game, even though I’m in Florida, don’t have ESPNU, and will only be able to listen to it on Pack Pass. My whole point was the argument against: *Going to the NIT is good because it will mean more exposure.* Maybe a little, but not much. Going to the NIT is good I have discovered for other reasons. Like someone else said, it gives me a chance to continue rooting for a team I (we) love. I don’t want it to end.

  12. packpigskinfan23 03/14/2007 at 3:57 PM #

Captain- I agree. but I hope this would at least catch the eyes of some of the better in state talent. I know there is some good talent out there. maybe not this class, but in the soph/jr classes that are still wondering about schools.

but like I said, screw the media right now. this game is like NCState’s gift to us REAL fans. none of us expected it in the beginning of the season!

“You guys are teaching your girlfriends right! My wife is from the Midwest.”

It isn’t right but mixed marriages can have a lot of issues that don’t face other couples.

“Refred, granted, WRAL is technically considered media, but my post saying our exposure would end at the conclusion of the ACCT was really intended to mean national print media.”

So State going to the NIT will means they won’t get any national print media coverage. Since ‘USA Today’ is the only national print media I think the Pack can live with that problem.

  14. noah 03/14/2007 at 4:09 PM #

To be fair, we got nice coverage at the top of the sports page in my N&O today. We get the local edition…maybe the game ended to late for some other papers.

The NIT appearance continues our “postseason” appearance string…

And last night on ESPN Digger kept referring to “Engine” Atsur – I never liked that SOB and he never liked State either.

  16. CaptainCraptacular 03/14/2007 at 4:15 PM #

*So State going to the NIT will means they won’t get any national print media coverage. Since ‘USA Today’ is the only national print media I think the Pack can live with that problem.*

print as in print on a page of newspaper or a page of web browsing. But this horse is now officially dead. Lets move on and discuss other things, shall we?

Does anyone have any inside info on Costner’s “sprained ankle” that I didn’t know he had without seeing the N&O online recap of the game.

  17. packbackr04 03/14/2007 at 4:15 PM #

DIGGER IS A DOUCHE… i live in New Bern and our paper had only articles on how UNC is going to be taking it “one game at a time” and NOTHING on the pack.. i called the editor this am and complained.

“one game at a time” that is the cheesiest sports cliche i have ever heard. i hope roy chokes in the first round. theres yer one game at a time

  18. CaptainCraptacular 03/14/2007 at 4:16 PM #

*And last night on ESPN Digger kept referring to “Engine” Atsur*

I know thats a slight but in a way.. Engin is our engine.. without him we don’t go too far.

The Wolfpack Club just posted this on the PP boards. Jeff or someone may want to make this its own entry.

Re: NIT tickets available online at GOPACK @ 2pm w/code

We usually don’t post on message boards, but wanted to get some information out to some of you:

    NIT Ticket Update

The Wolfpack Club emailed ticket ordering instructions (along with the code) to over 10,000 donors with who we had email addresses for on 3/14. For those that did not receive an email from the Wolfpack Club, one of two things most likely occurred:

We do not have your correct email address on file.
Your email was delivered but put in a spam or junk email folder or filter. If you have a junk mail service, it may have not delivered this bulk email to you.

Our phone lines did experience tremendous call volume today.

If you can not get through, we suggest you email one or two various staff members from our staff directory – http://www.wolfpackclub.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9220&KEY=&ATCLID=702536

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Captain – I follow your train of thought here but at least the “Talking Heads” could pronounce his name correctly – and it’s not just Digger.
And now a cheap shot at him
    “Sit Digger, sit”

  21. RedTerror29 03/14/2007 at 4:24 PM #

Digger is a douche. Right after my (young, blonde, busty, attractive) girlfriend moved to Southbend (this was before we met, about two years ago), she met Digger. He asked her out and she rejected him, cause, well, he’s an old man. So then he gives her the whole Anchor Man, I’m kind of a big deal schpiel. And she’s a lifelong Notre Dame fan! Shows you where basketball ranks at that school.

  22. Gene 03/14/2007 at 4:46 PM #

    “Engine” Atsur

The guy probably didn’t reherse and saw Engin on his teleprompter and read it as Engine, since he figured the guys in the booth left off the last ‘e’.

  23. tractor57 03/14/2007 at 4:48 PM #

The “Sit Digger, sit” chat was popular in my day when ND came to Reynolds. It was “Sit Digger, sit” until he sat down then it was
    “Good boy Digger, good boy”

  24. tractor57 03/14/2007 at 4:48 PM #

should be chant in my last post

I know this hasn’t been a subject for awhile, however, I was curious to see if anyone saw Tom Sorenson’s article on Monday after the ACCT….seems he might be recruiting for us!
