NIT Game Specifics

The administration was able to work this out exactly as it should be. (Link) The gymnastics meet has been moved to 4pm.

One thing that the announcement does not cover is what time will the doors open for the basketball game? With general admission seating for the basketball game and the gymnastics event limiting how early the doors will open…this piece of information is important.

The following is from the announcement and edited for some additional information that we have received:

Following Tuesday night’s win at Drexel, the NC State men’s basketball team will continue its quest for the NIT Championship at home on Friday night. Sidney Lowe and company will play host to Marist in Reynolds Coliseum in a game that tips off at 9:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The sixth-seeded Wolfpack (19-15) upset third-seed Drexel on Tuesday, while seventh-seeded Marist (25-8) won at second-seed Oklahoma State. The winner of the game will advance to play the winner of the West Virginia-UMass game on the road next week.

All seating for the game is general admission and tickets can be purchased for $20. Wolfpack Club members can purchase tickets from 2 p.m. today until the game is sold out. Any tickets not purchased by Wolfpack Club members by noon on Thursday will go on sale to the general public. Because of high call volume, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online at gopack.com, but the numbers to the ticket office are 919/865-1510 or 1-800-310-PACK.

Fans purchasing tickets will be able to pick them up on Friday between noon and 6:30 p.m. at the Vaughn Towers box office at Carter-Finley Stadium. Any tickets not picked up during that time will be at the Reynolds will-call window on Friday evening.

There will be a special code for Wolfpack Club members which will be required at the gopack.com site beginning at 2 pm. Additionally, there will be a limit of six tickets per account.

NC State students can purchase tickets for $5 at the athletic ticket office on Trinity Road, or at Reynolds between 10 am and 2 pm on Thursday.

Does anyone else find it odd that a school which supposedly prides itself on computer science and technology, doesn’t have a website that works with Firefox?? Not really a complaint, but it is puzzling.

We got our six tix. Now we just gotta go wait in line forever to get the primo seating. Man, I cannot wait! 🙂

Jeff, as long as you’re not married to Lee Fowler, I’ll give you an award…

I just got back from getting tickets at the WPC offices. There is long line there. They are only selling 6000 tickets, with an additional 2000 being held for students.

This baby may sell out by 5pm today

Where in the world is my code?

Never mind, just got it, thank you Wolfpack Club.

O – It’s not too bad – only Winston…When we win – it’s not a bad ride. OTOH, when we lose, well you know…

I thought the seating capacity of Reynolds was 12,000+, when did this change?

  9. Trout 03/14/2007 at 2:25 PM #

Changed when they revamped Reynolds for women’s basketball.

The 12,400 number was a tad bogus to start with.

I read somewhere they took out bleachers from behind the baskets, but I figured they could just put more up for this game.

^ They sold them, Gene. To fans….I love mine

They look in the living room I bet.

LOL! Good for you, but seriously, these are bleachers. Shouldn’t the school be able to snag another set for temporary use? Wouldn’t the added ticket sales pay for the bleachers?

The crowd noise won’t be the same without the bleachers on both ends.

    Reynolds never held 12,400.

  15. Dan 03/14/2007 at 2:36 PM #

They look great in my living room, and now I can waive them in the air to my heart’s content without security hauling me off.

In the past Reynolds capacity was 12,400 if I remember the old NC State box scores in the N&O correctly.

  17. TNCSU 03/14/2007 at 2:49 PM #

I always thought the capacity of Reynolds was about 9600. I’m not sure why, but I remember it being just UNDER 10,000.

Still haven’t received my promo code… had to go in with a coworker that had gotten his promo code to get tickets to make sure they didn’t sell out before I got some.

The original stated capacity of Reynolds as constructed was listed as 12,400. I don’t know if that number was ever really valid. However, when they replaced the original lower sideline and endzone seats in the 1970s with the red folding chairs that were sold as surplus last year, they reduced the seating capacity but still listed sellouts as 12,400. The truth was easy to see when sold-out NIT games were played there in the late 1990s and the attendance was listed as 10,600 (or so). They owed the NIT a cut of every ticket sold so they had an incentive to list the real number. Capacity was further reduced when they removed the endzone seats entirely.

Unless it’s a bill, I wouldn’t count on getting anything on time from the WPC.

  21. legacyman 03/14/2007 at 2:59 PM #

The old Reynolds held 11,400 but someone…I know who…rigged it to 12,400 so as to exceed the capacity of the unc-ch gym. Now it is much less but will be just as much fun.

Tickets are purchased, sleeping arrangements made, and cutting out early on Friday cleared with the bossman – It’s on! I’ll be partying on Hillsborough St. after the game just like the good old days.

looks like I have to depend on my girlfriend to get her lazy ass up and in line by 10 am tomarrow morning!!!! man…. if she screws this up, is that grounds for dumping her after a 3 year relationship?!?!

  24. joe 03/14/2007 at 3:16 PM #

UNC’s old gym Carmichael held 10,000 so I’m not sure why they needed to inflate Reynolds to 12,400 from 11,400. And UNC’s Carmichael did not even exist when Reynolds was built in 1949. I think back in the 40s and 50s UNC played in what they called the Tin Can. They later built another place called the new Tin Can. Not sure what the real names of those places are.

My guess is that businesses on Hillsborough St are going to have a good Friday night.
