Drexel Game Thread (Last of the Season?)

Is this the way the season ends? Not with a bang (like the ACCT run), but a whimper (an injured, mentally and physically exhausted Pack squad playing out the string in front of a handful of fans)? Sadly, it seems likely, as this previous post explained. To clarify, I sure as hell hope we win, and will even make the trek to a sports bar in about an hour to watch on ESPN-Unavailable. But I won’t fault the staff or these kids in the slightest if we lose – even if we lose by 40.

Anyway, your in-game comments belong here. Let’s ride it out together!

8:12 update: I hate to say I told you so, but…

Halftime update: Really proud of the guys for hanging in and grinding it out. Drexel never met a shot they didn’t like, that’s for sure.

Damned near midnight update: Being wrong never felt so right! What incredible character. Go Marist!

    if Marist wins, and we get a home game it would have to be at Renyolds!!!! concert at the RBC that night!!!! man I hope we get a home game!!!!

    Great effort – don’t know if you all saw it, but Bill Simmons gave the pack some run in his weekend recap article (posted yesterday) and said they were a very “tough” team. At this point, how could anyone not agree!

    They should have know better than to seed us 6th! I’m as proud of this team as I have been in a LONG time. Some heart and guts and we steal one from a solid ballclub, and a three day rest and then somebody else gets it. Way to go Pack!

    Were there any fouls in the first half? I don’t think there was a one called. Must have been some Tarhole refs, i.e. Drexel gets a lead and don’t call anything to get them out of their tempo.

    Sure am glad Elegar shoots “some of Sadaam’s old scuds” as free throws!

    I was wrong. Mea maxima culpa. O me of little faith.

    But in my defense, Tony just said he thought almost the exact same thing as I did.

    This team is mentally tougher than I gave them credit for. Heckuva six-day stretch; 5-1 with the one coming down to the last minute against a top-5 team playing flawlessly.

    Massive props and awe to Lowe & the boys.

    I love these guys! I am more excited about the Wolfpack than I have been for years. It’s hard to desctibe but the kids going to school now are going to witness the return to glory. I love it.

    The guys aren’t going to know what to do with two entire days off. Great win. Actually it was kind of ugly, but it was still great. Hack-a-Frank worked great. If we had any kind of scouting report we might have started that earlier, but then we wouldn’t have had any fouls left to give at the end.

    Fells is becoming my favorite player. The guy is as talented as anyone on that team, and very explosive.

    And I’m glad Mejia is gone, the guy really didn’t impress me.

    If you have Charter cable check and see if you can get ESPNU. I knew we didn’t have it but checked the menu for basketball and low and behold there it was on channel 155. I have extended basic so I figured that they must have added it to some high priced sports tier but when I punched in 155 there it was! I couldn’t believe my luck and I’m just wondering if it’s been there all season and I didn’t know it.

    Tom Suiter at WRAL had a good article today about how tired these guys must be. I am really starting to believe heart never gets tired. These guys from the coach on down are absolutely amazing.

    How long is it going to take wral.com to figure out that State is in the NIT…and they just won their first game against a good Drexel team…

    Oh, that’s right, there’s too much space devoted to who Carolina is going to play when they make the Final Four…no doubt they’ll get that far, easily.
