Drexel Game Thread (Last of the Season?)

Is this the way the season ends? Not with a bang (like the ACCT run), but a whimper (an injured, mentally and physically exhausted Pack squad playing out the string in front of a handful of fans)? Sadly, it seems likely, as this previous post explained. To clarify, I sure as hell hope we win, and will even make the trek to a sports bar in about an hour to watch on ESPN-Unavailable. But I won’t fault the staff or these kids in the slightest if we lose – even if we lose by 40.

Anyway, your in-game comments belong here. Let’s ride it out together!

8:12 update: I hate to say I told you so, but…

Halftime update: Really proud of the guys for hanging in and grinding it out. Drexel never met a shot they didn’t like, that’s for sure.

Damned near midnight update: Being wrong never felt so right! What incredible character. Go Marist!

    “COACHING MATTERS”

This post does not belong on this thread and I’m sure SFN will delete if they believe this is irrelevent.

The win over Drexel has pushed me over the edge into believing that Sidney Lowe is going to be the greatest coach NC State has ever had. There is no way that NCSU should have won tonight except for the fact that Sidney Lowe is their coach.

I admit that I liked Herb Sendek. I liked the character of the young men he brought into the program ( I know Sidney likes their character as well ) and I hope Sidney keeps bringing these type of young men into the program. Herb took a program that was in the dump and made it relevent again, but he did not and could not bring the passion that Sidney Lowe has restored. I wish Herb and his herbivores well and I have no doubt State will be seeing his team soon in the NCAA tourny.

Tonights game has convinced me that Lowe will quickly make Roy Williams irrelevant. Right now Sidney is a better coach than Roy Williams. Think about it. Roy has had great success as a head coach, but where has he coached? Kansas, a traditional power house where every highschool all american from the midwest wants to play and lots of westwern all americans are drawn to. And how many NCAA titles did he have while there? Now he is at UNC, enough said about that. Who doesn’t want to play for UNC? But a man named Lowe in a very few years is going to change all of this. Roy better learn how to coach real soon because the best talent won’t be wearing baby blue. The best talent being coached by the best coach will be wearing tomato red!

Any chance the game would be at Marist? I mean, if we can’t get a place to play, I suppose we might defer. Anyways, it’s just north of NYC, and I know there is a Pack contingency in NYC. And I live a few hours away too.

How about Broughton? It would be the greatest collection of basketball talent in the place since Pistol Pete practiced by himself.

wow sports writers are so fickle; first they critcize the fans of running the coach out of town– now they are in love with our team, coach, and our run! I guess whatever’s popular to say!

No freakin way! EVERYONE, see this pic and caption!
And yes, I found this myself sifting through photos on Yahoo looking for pics of the State game. I don’t do much, but I want credit for this one.

Could be a false alarm on the home game. OK State is reeling in Marist. The Red Foxes lead by 5 with 5 min remaining.

Who wrote that? If it’s Doyel or one of the idiots, we’ll kick their butt off the bandwagon!

About scheduling, I think the NIT has built-in flexibility to change days for a given game. So it’s conceivable that the game could be moved to Saturday or even Monday.

marist is in good shape 9 sec and the are at the line with the lead

  17. NYPack 03/13/2007 at 11:25 PM #

67-64 Marist, with 8 seconds. OK State has possession, I believe.

  18. cornellpackfan 03/13/2007 at 11:26 PM #

time out marist with little over 8 sec, marist up by 3, OKST ball

So is the game in reynolds or not? I love to watch games in there. It would be a great atmosphere as always.

When is the game then? Where will it be, etc.
