I concur with some of the others, being a State fan is akin to rooting for the Cubs.

A buddy of mine is a Tarheel fan and constantly complaining about the football and basketball teams.

    He has no idea.

    Seriously,

    as Jim Mora once said…

“He thinks he knows, but he doesn’t and he never will.”

Which one of the two school are journalism joints? You figure out how he got shafted…..no lube

  3. branjawn 03/11/2007 at 3:30 PM #

    I hate Carolina. Period.

I’m still holding out the smallest of hopes that we get into the Tourney. My wife studies nano-fibers in grad school here at Cornell, that’s about the size of the hope. If the Comm saw the game, you never know. Plus if they consider what our record would have been with Atsur the whole season. 20-13??

Here’s also looking for a #1 seed in the NIT. I want Engin to go out a champion, even if it be NIT.

Unreal on the tourney MVP. I think Wright was 0-3 today on shots outside of 4 feet. He also missed 2 chip shots during crunch time. I don’t think UNC wins today without Rayshawn Terry.

He is the beneficiary of having super athletes around him that can break down defenses and get him the ball in easy position to score. Credit him for being an athletic big man that gets himself in position to score, but I think his performance could be replicated by a lot of big men in the NCAA if they had teammates like him.

Dang! Just two more (regular-season) conference wins away. That close.

  7. Iremember87 03/11/2007 at 3:48 PM #

    Not exactly…only 10 points away.

  8. gopack 03/11/2007 at 3:49 PM #

The holes really showed their lack of class when they shot the ball with a second left and no one in red on their end of the court.
Another reason we all despise them so much.

Next year when we’re kicking the shit out of Carolina I hope we dunk on them with 0.8 left on the clock, just to show them that we appreciate Lawson’s classy move today.

If they lose a couple of guys to early entry and we gain Hickson, Smith, Thomas, Gonzalez, Degand and Johnson, they will be lucky to split with us. As for Duke, well, they better have some good recruits coming in, because the team they ran out there late this year won’t stand much of a chance.

The opposite is the case when last week Boston College great player had the ball under the basket with 3 seconds left and no one guarding him because the game was over. If he had shot the easy layup he would have broken the school record of I think, 41 points. He let the moment pass. That Carolina, is class which you will never understand.

GREAT WEEK IN FLORIDA SID AND TEAM. WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU GUYS.

There is ZERO chance of an at-large bid. I also think we are emotionally and physically spent at this point, and Atsur likely won’t play in the NIT. Think we’ll be one-and-done, just hope it’s a home game so we can show them some appreciation for what they did this weekend.

We won’t win the National Championship this year…and neither will Unc.

So we both set our sights on next year…we return every player but one and bring in impact players at nearly every postion, while Unc loses at least two starters…Terry and Wright, and maybe more.

    Bring it on.

Did anyone notice that after the game the Carolina fans were not even excited? They did not have heart today and I don’t think they understand what that means. GUYS- AWESOME! We were singing the fight song last night at dinner (non-NCSU restaurant) and my boyfriend wore a red blazer out last night (belonged to a bball manager years ago). People went nuts…..asked for pictures and just cheered in general. NCSU and the men’s basketball team are winners despite today’s outcome.

    Rochester:
Duke has a Top 5 recuiting class coming in. I think scout has them at #3. State’s is #19, excluding of course the two transfers. If UNC loses Wright, Hansborough, and Lawson (in addition to seniors Terry and Miller), they’ll be beatable next year. And they might even have to use Quinton Thomas at point. I like the idea of Frasor and him running the point at unc. State will finish in the top 4 next year.

Don’t think MVP has ever gone to someone from a team that did not win the championship. This should have been the year that broke that tradition.

Our challenge now is to show up for the NIT game(s) at Reynolds or the RBC. Hell, maybe we can win the damn thing!

  16. gopack968 03/11/2007 at 4:12 PM #

I should have checked, looks like it has happened – but not for a long time:

Years MVP wasn’t on winning team:
1980 – Albert King (MARY) won MVP while Duke won tourney
1971 – Lee Dedmon (UNC) tied for MVP with John Roche of winning USC
1954 – Dickie Hemric (WFU) won MVP while NCSU won tourney

  17. beowolf 03/11/2007 at 4:14 PM #

McPete, UNX was beatable this year, as the Pack demonstrated.

  18. McPete 03/11/2007 at 4:17 PM #

yes, i saw that. but i still think the playing field will be more level next year. depth was important this season, and we will have more quality depth next season. and unc might have to play quinton thomas. don’t forget that. he sucks on toast.

  19. BJD95 03/11/2007 at 4:19 PM #

I don’t think anyone in the field (even Florida) can beat UNC if they play their “A” game.

  20. beowolf 03/11/2007 at 4:22 PM #

BJ, we just about did, with a spent team and a gimpy PG and a walk-on.

  21. dawgitall 03/11/2007 at 4:22 PM #

“Next year when we’re kicking the shit out of Carolina I hope we dunk on them with 0.8 left on the clock, just to show them that we appreciate Lawson’s classy move today.”

Better yet we should drive to the basket and just stop and slowly roll the ball to their bench.

I always thought it was don’t root for Duke period. I’d love to see Tex A&M-CC upset UNC in the first round, they’re one of my fav small conf teams.

For the NCAAT, I almost want to adopt Winthrop, but they’re in the same conf as High Point, so it will be Tex A&M-CC.

That said, I do think UNC showed a toughness today that they needed. We didn’t lay down like FSU/BC did. We went toe to toe, their A game was just a bit better then ours.

BTW I doubt we’ll get an NIT home game, we’re nowhere near the bubble, and only 16 teams get home games. nitology had up beginning today is safely in as a 6 seed. I think today might bump us to a 5 or 4.

  23. beowolf 03/11/2007 at 4:27 PM #

I said this before the ACCT, and despite all the UNC worship all around, I still wouldn’t be surprised to see them lose the first weekend. They’ve been prone to the occasional Bad Heels game that surprises everyone. They’re not a dominant team. They’re a very deep, very talented team, but they’re not that mentally tough.

  24. ncsuphysician 03/11/2007 at 4:27 PM #

UNC is deff. beatable. We had 20 turnovers, a gimp PG, and it was our 4th straight game and we gave them a run. If we could have hit the two shots (grants and costner) it would have been a lot closer.
I don’t think unc has what it takes to make it all the way.

If you can’t enjoy watching kids change and develop, both physically and MENTALLY, over the course of a season without having always having a check in the win column, and for all of those of you who say you can’t enjoy a moral victory, I pity you folks. In my humble opinion, starting with it’s story book cluster F*K of a late beginning, and it’s blase introduction to the world, this has turned out to be one of the most memorable WOLFPACK basketball seasons on record.
