    i was REALLY not sure where to post this but thought it was of great interest for everyone on statefans. rivals.com is posting updates of the mcdonald’s all america practices with comments on the players. for jj hickson
    practice 1: “J.J. Hickson was the biggest presence on the East squad.” and

    practice 2: “J.J. Hickson- He has an NBA ready body right now. He looks every bit of 6-foot-9 and is noticeably taller than Patterson and Lawal. He has been a force around the basket as a finisher and rebounder. It will be interesting to see if he and Kevin Love match up during the game.”

    he is also mentioned under the discussion of patrick patterson “It has been fun watching Patterson, J.J. Hickson and Gani Lawal go at it around the basket. All three are aggressive athletes with a knack at getting to the ball.

    “Another amazing thing was…there were no timeouts. Normally (in division I) you would have seen about 5 timeouts and about 85 commercials in that span. Maybe they were all used up…or maybe division II has fewer timeouts. Anyone know?”

    That was my first thought after seeing this. How much more enjoyable the ending to a game is when it doesn’t take 20 minutes to play 45 seconds. When the players have stopped sweating and are just all standing around and the band playing the same thing over and over.

    I left the house with a little under two minutes to play because Barton had just missed a shot and was down something like 10 so I missed it live. Another lesson learned.

    Anthony Atkinson was on local news last night and they asked him where he was running. He basically said he was looking for a tunnel to get off the court at first but there wasn’t one on that side of the arena. Then he saw all the bigs running for him and to avoid being killed he was running away from them.
