That’s formerly Atlantic Christian College if I’m not mistaken.

The most exciting game of the post season so far.

I believe two additional ways to say CHOKE are “Winona State” and “Duke Women”

    🙂

Unbelievable. The best finish to a college basketball I have ever seen.

Barton’s final three opponents had 22,000…..16,000….and 8,500 full time students respectively. Barton has 925! That’s right 925! That would be a smal 3-A or large 2-A high school size in NC!

Barton’s final opponent Winona State had won 57 consecutive games and was the defending National Champion. They had the National D-II Player of the Year plus two additional players on the D-II First team All-American list!! Talk about an upset! Unreal!

Superb accomplishment for Barton. I’m not very familiar with that college in Wilson, but you gotta give them credit for winning like that.

I really wouldn’t use student body size as a way to measure basketball potential (though it’s *one* of the ways). How many students does Mt. Zion or Oak Hill have? I wouldn’t consider either of those handicapped by their size.

THIS year, perhaps. I personally have seen much more amazing finishes in a national championship game.

    Yeah, 1983 comes to mind!

Duke women don’t choke. That’s probably just a low cough.

“THIS year, perhaps. I personally have seen much more amazing finishes in a national championship game.”

There have been bigger games with national names but I doubt there have been any finish anything much more amazing than a team scoring 4 points in the final 8 seconds with the final shot coming with .1 second left. This after being down by 7 with 45 seconds.

Sure there have been other great moments but this one is bound to bump someone out of the top 10 of all-time NCAA basketball finishes.

Why don’t the emoticons work any more? I feel like I’ve lost all ability to express my inner self without them. 🙁

    Oh, they do work. 🙂

That is the former Atlantic Christian College. My wife’s gonna love that since that’s where she had her nursing training. Guess she can now say her alma mater has a basketball championship now.

I grew up about 5 blocks from Barton. I was hella excited in that last span of events.

I do not ever remember seeing one player scoring the final ten points for his team in the final 38 secs of a game to win in a comeback.
Some are comparing their run through the tourney to our run in 83 as they won close game after close game, usually coming back to win in the end. No comparison there just based on the level of comp and the overall setting.

    10 points..one guy..38 secs.. to WIN!!

    That’s big time boys!

Someone pointed out last week in the Barton thread that some Div I schools where probably kicking themselves for not getting Anthony Atkinson and after watching that game it is clear he knew what he was speaking about.

I’ve only seen Steve Nash and Reggie Miller pull of something like that. But college ball is a totally diffrent sport…

speaking of that… does anyone else think that Skip Bayless is the biggest idiot in America for insisting that NBA is a better product then NCAA?!?! SO FUCKING WHAT if the 3 point line is 4 feet closer?!?! Isnt it nice to see a guy like Cedric Simmons pull up a three every now and again?!?!

  21. noah 03/26/2007 at 7:20 PM #

    Ha! That’s awesome.

  22. TNCSU 03/26/2007 at 8:16 PM #

It doesn’t matter where you put the 3 point line or if you even have one…NCAA Basketball will always top NBA Hoops. The quality may be better in the NBA, but the passion and heart of college Hoops is far and away better than the NBA. NOT EVEN CLOSE…

The video won’t fully download for me. Any ideas why not?

I was watching this live on Saturday while my wife was sleeping on the couch. It was all I could do to not yell when he made it. It was AWESOME!

Another amazing thing was…there were no timeouts. Normally (in division I) you would have seen about 5 timeouts and about 85 commercials in that span. Maybe they were all used up…or maybe division II has fewer timeouts. Anyone know?
