AP: Lowe thanks Wolfpack officals, fans for support

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State basketball coach Sidney Lowe thanked Wolfpack officials and fans for their understanding Wednesday after his son was charged with crimes ranging from armed robbery to drug possession.

“This is a difficult time for my son, myself and my family,” Lowe said in a statement issued by the school. “We appreciate the support and understanding of the Wolfpack family.”

“We understand what a difficult time this must be for the Lowe family,” N.C. State athletic director Lee Fowler said. “I have spoken with Sidney and assured him that we support our coach and will do what we can for him and his family as they deal with this situation.”

    BobLee,

Would you be interested in being a moderator on the scout boards? I’m sure we could get a large enough possy form here to get you as a mod on both insidecarolina and packpride. You could keep both sites clean. I’m serious.

The wolfpacker (rivals) had a serious clean up over the past year. They have a lot less viewers to market there goods, but they now have a very clean board. They made some serious effort. But as you say, it was the mod’s that cleaned it up. It is the mods that keep in clean here.

“of course, if you really don’t want any civility in the rivalry, just do nothing …… and it will get worse.” – BobLee –

We did nothing for 10 years. It did not get worse. If it wasn’t for the recent renewal of the rivalry, we’d still be talking crap about ourselves and the posters at IC would still not have much to say about us. I suspect the bad apples will get badder if the rivalry continues to head in the direction of where it was in the 1980’s. Can you imagine if there were fan boards in the 80’s.?

But I agree Bob and apreciate your effort, we should try an do our part – if not these fan boards will soon be as negative as the TV News.

The exponential growth of “the Internet” over the past 5 years negates any comparison with problems prior to then. The handful of Internet “pioneers” 8-10 years ago is not the same “breed of cat” we are seeing now.

I would be a bad choice as a Mod because I would be TOO tough. My definition of “civility” is slightly to the right of Emily Post. I would make Buford Pusser look like a drunken sailor. …. within 24 hours the board would look like The Little Big Horn AFTER the Sioux squaws were finished stripping the boots off the scalped cavalry.

18 y/o smart ass punks and 45 y/o little league rightfielders probably deserve somewhere to rant …. maybe. But my patience would be waaay too short. You guys have a good sense of “that’s far enough” here.

Are Bo and Ray still moderating on PackPride? They are certainly solid clear thinking adults …. if Scout gives them any freedom.

Here’s a novel idea …… especially in a backyard bloodfeud situation like we have here. Appoint an adult fan from the rival fan base to moderate each board. Ergo …. say Beowolf would moderate IC. It would not be “known” of course except to the area director for Rivals or Scout.

It’s usually just 2-3 “lead dog” jackasses that pisss in the punchbowl. Spend 2-3 days lurking on a board during a hot period and you can pick’em out. Make them disappear like removing a nasty drunk from a nice party and the flames go out. Yes, the jackasses try to come back under an alias but in the words of Horatio Caine …. “DNA doesn’t lie” …. their posting style quickly gives them away.

The question is “is it a right or a privilege” to post on a fan board? I’m on the “privilege” side of that one.

I will do this …. come up with a master plan to “clean up the neighborhood but still have fun” and I’ll give you PLENTY of exposure and props.

You’ve got that right about the “lead dog jackasses”. I’ve just gotten fed up with a couple of other sites and just decided never to ever go there again. My blood pressure can’t handle it!

More deep thoughts from the mind of redfred…

BobLee, I don’t exactly understand where you are coming from here? Are you saying that some remarks on another NC State site, about events that occurred during a basketball game, are somehow the equivalent of comments now being seen on the UNC sites involving a personal matter with NCSU’s coach’s son?

First you say that the comments now cropping up all over the UNC boards about Sidney Lowe’s situation are just coming from the worst of the worst, the lowest of all bottom feeders of the UNC fan base. That they are not really a true representation of the common UNC fan.

Then, it seems to me anyway(?), that you are ask for a policing of the NC State sites…and basically because of what is happening on UNC boards right now??? What is that all about? Also you also conveniently mention the “racial crap” that someone posted on another NCSU board somewhere, as if to say, “See, ya’ll do even worse.”

Sorry, I don’t see the correlation there. I would suggest that maybe some folks over in Chapel Hill should finally come to grips with the fact that your group of bottom dwellers greatly outnumbers anyone else’s around, and that they are also a larger percentage of your overall fan base than any of you would care to think about. They are also very capable of taking topics to lower levels than you would like to admit also. It’s just a by product of the holier than thou “we are better than anybody” mind set. The kind of uppity mentality that doesn’t dare ever mention color, of course, but none the less has all the same uppity thought processes, and it implies a similar superiority.

Sorry about that folks, and BobLee, but I don’t quite understand the intent of BobLee’s earlier posts on this thread.
