ACC Championship Game Entry (Halftime Update)

Sidney Lowe’s debut season as the Wolfpack has been a resounding success and has all of StateFansNation dreaming about the future. But, before we get to the future, let’s pray for a miracle today.

A lot of the media and younger Wolfpackers keep referring to the 1983 run to the title. I guess that is understandable, especially with the presence of Sidney Lowe. But, I liken this run more to the 1987 run than the 1983 run.

The 1987 Wolfpack team was lower seeded than the 1983 team. Additionally, the ’87 team had to play a Tarheel team in the ACC Finals that was much more of a juggernaut than today’s Tarheel opponent. If NC State could pull the upset in 1987, then nothing is impossible today.

The Wolfpack is playing with house money today. Nothing much left to say.

Go get em…

Haltime Comments

* 7 ties

* 10 lead changes

* State’s biggest lead was 6 points at 18-12

* The game was played at a very high level. Very impressive.

* The Heels started gaining traction at the exact time that the refs swallowed their whistles and allowed extreme perimeter contact during the guarding of Engin Atsur.

* Don’t misunderstand my previous comments, thus far this has been a fantastically officiated game.

* The difference in these two teams is simply – the bench.

* McCauley just does not perform/match-up well against the tall and athletic bigs of the Tarheels.

Too bad we can’t get the 13 seed award. Need a miracle now.

I believe that’s 90 points for Costner in 4 games. Is that an ACC tournament record? I would think so, given I believe only N.C. State has played 4 games in one tournament (twice).

How about his average of 22.5? How many have reached that?

It will be criminal if he doesn’t win the award.

I hate all these UNC wal mart retards.

  4. Astral Rain 03/11/2007 at 2:18 PM #

    steal please, right now

Our guys are executing well down the stretch. Two straight nice possessions on offense. There is really nothing we can do about them making their free throws.

Come on tvp, you’ve got to love the UNX band nerds with their 2-liter pepsi bottle cut out masks. It’s sooo cool.

Finally, a UNC free throw miss. One more conversion by us and this will get very interesting.

    it’s over

  9. nsj 03/11/2007 at 2:19 PM #

That’s it, fellas. What a run.

    Wow, so close.

The record is like 107 or something by Randoph Childress (who only played 3 games). I’m sure it’s a freshman record.

I think I am more upset that the Pack couldn’t win two more conference games during the regular season than I am over this loss.

That would have made the committee members think?

Can’t complain about the ways the guys played today.

    Great effort.

    CLASSLESS

  14. redcoatrevival 03/11/2007 at 2:20 PM #

    Classless by Lawson.

  15. Tau837 03/11/2007 at 2:21 PM #

Should have known Ty Lawson wouldn’t end the game with class. No need for another basket there.

Hell, the holes won this one. We didn’t lose it- no reason to feel bad on this one. Did what we could, and we had a shot to win. UNC just brought their A game. Guess we’ll be in Boone for the 1st NIT game…

Goes back to the Duke game — you’ve won the game. Let that be that.

Ummm, WHO DESERVED TO BE IN ACC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!

    DAMN, what a season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Rick 03/11/2007 at 2:23 PM #

That call against McCAuley on Ellingotn was the game. That was an attrocious call. I should have known as soon as it was about to go in our favor it is time for the refs to give it away.

    Sigh
    So close

I’m glad our guys had the composure not to do something stupid but man I wish someone would have drilled Lawson from behind.

  21. beowolf 03/11/2007 at 2:24 PM #

    Dammit.

I’m so sick and tired of watching NC State teams fight and claw their way only for the sunshine-kissed heels have everything handed to them on a silver platter. They couldn’t deal with what we deal with.

I’m so proud of the team and Coach Lowe, I just wish there was justice in the universe to give them the recognition they deserve.

  22. highstick 03/11/2007 at 2:24 PM #

Can’t feel bad about this one either, we won the second half! This season has been a game of halves with UNCX.

I’m proud of our guys and will be glad to change into some clothes that don’t stink!

    Sid, YOU DA MAN!

  23. ktpritch 03/11/2007 at 2:26 PM #

We should all be extremely proud of how our team played today. To go 4 days in a row against that level of competition and make it a winnable game against one of the deepest teams in the country is nothing short of impressive. Thanks for the ride…

  24. nsj 03/11/2007 at 2:26 PM #

Well, congrats to the team and staff for an amazing run and for making the ACCT fun to watch again. Wolfpack Nation is proud of the effort and the guts all weekend long.

Now let’s catch some rest and get ready for the NIT.
