Blogosphere Comments on TOB

From one of the best independent blogs out there – Eagle in Atlanta (Link)

I love StateFans Nation. They supported me early and have guest blogged here in the past. They are now reporting that TOB is the No. 1 candidate for the NC State job. I have not provided any info or rumors to them. And they seem pretty excited about TOB and his potential there. No one over there asked me, but here is my opinion on TOB going to NC State.

From a great blog entry by Tom Suiter at WRAL-TV (Link)

I think State needed to hire someone who had been a head coach and had run his own program. The last two Wolfpack head coaches came from the assistant ranks, and while some assistant coaches have resumes that are appealing — especially those from big time programs — the right move at this time was to hire a proven head coach, and Tom O’Brien is certainly that.

It’s all there for N.C. State to have a winner, it really is. What the program needs without question is a hard-nosed coach who will instill discipline and who knows how to put together a staff. It needs a coach who has won at the highest level and knows what it takes to win now. History shows that Tom O’Brien has done that.

You never know until they hold the press conference, but I’ll say it here — Tom O’Brien to N.C. State would be a winner for the Wolfpack.

I agree with you 94MEGrad — any new NEWS about the press conference, or the actual signing of a contract??

Wolfpacker420 go back to Chapel Hole and quit jerking our chain.

I doubt we will hear anything until the BOT conf. call at 5 PM today…then who knows if it will be right after the call? An anouncement should be around 6PM for the news to report but after that…?? Perhaps Mr. Murphy can go pick up Tom for a PC…any planes being tracked? 🙂

I wonder if Mal Moore will live through the weekend.

A 420er who doesn’t watch the Simpsons? Or did you just not catch the Jebus episode?

420 lends credence to the theory that the net harbors fugitives from reason who conjure up contrived scenarios to fit their own agendas—nonetheless—he is correct—he is entitled to his opinions—and—this site exists for these opinions to be examined and discussed—now—on to more important things—have we signed that yankee football coach yet?—bama might be gettin’ antsy—get that boy down here now—spot the ball!!

  8. wolfpacker420 12/08/2006 at 5:20 PM #

we could only be so lucky if bama could take TOB, can we send Fowler with him in a two for one special?

  9. Mr O 12/08/2006 at 5:30 PM #

Amato was 49-37 and led the Wolfpack to five bowl games in seven seasons. What has your precious TOB done that makes him so much better than Amato?

TOB is 52-21 in his last six years and that is a 70% winning percentage. He has won 30 of his last 39 games for a 76% winning percentage.

Who the hell could we have hired where we could point to their current record and clearly say it is better than TOB’s?

Please don’t put up PJ as an example who has never won squat at the BCS level

riddle me this then? how many BCS bowl games have BC attended at TOB’s helm? 0000000000000000=0 Have you seen the bowl games they have won? They are the arm pit of the bowl games. Look at BC blog they are so excited to get rid of this guy for a reason. TOB is pulling a Herb. He is leaving before he gets fired. Its OK to understand that we got a second class coach who has no expression about anything!! I only hope he wins or we will be doing this again in a couple of years. How many top 25 wins in 10 years? He couldn’t even beat State in our worst season ever!!!

I do apologize for the STFU comments. I don’t use such language when I speak, and therefore I shouldn’t use it when I type, even as an acronym. Sorry.

I don’t like having my loyalty questioned simply because I raise what I believe are important doubts about the wisdom of decisions that affect the athletic programs I have loved for nearly fifty years. Nobody’s throwing anyone under the bus. That is an unfair characterization of my thoughts. I will support TOB, I will always support the Wolfpack, and as I said, I hope I lose this argument because it will mean the Wolfpack is winning big games, beating rivals, and winning championships.

I’m with you Packfanstk that is exactly how I feel! GO PACK 4 LIFE

NCSt will do better with TOB than it ever has. How many BCS bowls has he been to? None. How many BCS bowls has the pack been to? None. If my memory serves me correct, the best we have ever done is Gator. We can take TOB, our better facilities, and a very good fan base and the pack can and will do better than we ever have. But we have to take the first steps. Chuck was not it. TOB is. We are headed in the right direction. Go Pack!

  14. Mr O 12/08/2006 at 8:22 PM #

Wolfpack420: How many BCS bowls has the coach you thought we should have hired been to?

TOB has been to less than stellar bowls because he has been handcuffed at BC.

Their fans sound like we did when Herb left for Arizona St. Doesn’t that scare you?

  16. tvp 12/09/2006 at 7:46 AM #

The atl-eagle has some seriously misinformed nonsense posted on his blog about us now.

Personally I hope these cocky BC fools get their just rewards and get stuck with Bob Davie.

    BC is better off now!!!!

Wolfpacker 420. You seem very reliable with your 420 attached onto your name. You seem to be a very bored Boston College fan.
