Squeezing in the Roundball

State #35

With so much focus on Chuck Amato and NC State Football, a basketball entry isn’t going to hold a lot of interest for a lot of our readers. Regardless, we didn’t want to completely drop the ball on the topic. So, in the event that you are interested, we wanted to quickly turn your attention to a few things:

* If you have not yet gone “On the Record” with your expectations for this year’s basketball team, then you need to get your opinions chronicled now. Click here for our entry and your opportunity to join the conversation.

* BJD and I “live blogged” some comments during Friday night’s win over Delaware State from our Blackberries in the comments section of this entry. Don’t laugh, but Delaware State may end up being an NCAA Tournament team this year. I’m just saying; I can still dream that these wins mean something. You can tell from our comments how enjoyable it was to watch the new Wolfpack. Our friends at Section Six have a deeper statistical look at Friday’s game.

* Last week was an interesting week in the world of college basketball and this article hits a lot of interesting items that are related to NC State like Sean Miller, Maryland, our friends at Georgetown, Greg Marshall and others.

* We are going to have some really good basketball recruiting analyses and roster conversations coming after CJ Williams makes his announcement tomorrow. Until then we ask that you peruse our archive of Basketball Recruiting entries. We think that you will enjoy.

* We had this entry regarding Arizona State’s first game (and first loss) of the season to Northern Arizona. It looks like the bloom is falling of the rose quickly in Tempe where the Sun Devils were beaten this weekend AT HOME by Portland State in front of a sparse crowd of only about 1,200 (as estimated by some people in attendance). The Sun Devils did win one game on a night of “firsts”:

“It was an evening of firsts on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. It was the first ever collegiate game for Cal State San Bernardino, the first time in quite a while that the Sun Devils had five players in double digit scoring, and more importantly the 69-52 victory was head coach Herb Sendek’s first win in his ASU tenure.

* Herb’s first win at ASU was over a school playing their first collegiate game EVER. How do measure the historical RPI of a school that has never played a college game?

PackGirl, Sidney Lowe has it all.

Now, if we can just get an administration with winning attitudes along with a backbone or two, we’ll get back to where we should have been all along.

Friday night was a dunk-fest, I haven’t seen a wolfpacker dunk since I could walk. Basketball can be fun?!?!?!? How awesome is that?!?!

I love that comment about a certain point guard making “a mistake, and signed with another school.” I’m glad he worked that in and it shows he pussy foot around the issues and also shows that he believes that what he has to offer a kid, is better than he’ll be receiving elsewhere.

It’s confidence and belief in one’s self. A whole new concept for the younger among us Wolfpack faithful.
