Don Strock was always a classy guy when he was a player. FIU has expelled a couple of players and it looks like the rest will not play again this year.

I wish Miami would do the same. At the very least, Merriweather needs to get a one-year ban.

I was reading something a couple of months ago about criminal prosecutions surrounding sporting events. Apparently, the actions have to be FAR outside the normal behavior of the sport.

Max Baer killed Frankie Campbell and damn near killed Ernie Schaff (who actually was killed by Primo Carnera a few months later). Baer was charged with manslaughter but ultimately was acquitted.

Marty McSorley was successfully prosecuted for assault on Donald Brashear. Dino Ciccarelli was also arrested and convicted for assault for a hit in 1988.

Kermit Washington almost killed Rudy Tomjanovich in 1977. I don’t think anyone got arrested, but Rudy T sued and won a multi-million dollar judgement against the Lakers.

    USAToday (10/18/06):
Miami coach Larry Coker said his energy and resolve is more now than ever to getting the Hurricanes on the right track.

“I’m the right person to be here,” Coker said. “I’m needed here. I’m excited to be here.”

Remind me, Larry, just when did Miami get off track?
