Future FBall Gametimes Set

NC State’s streak of noon starting times will mercifully be broken in the first weekend in November as Georgia Tech’s visit to Carter-Finley has been scheduled for a 7pm kickoff with television coverage to be provided by ESPNU. (Link)

Additionally, the November 25th game vs East Carolina is currently scheduled for 1pm with no television coverage.

Wait, so the NCSU-GT game isn’t going to be on a real channel that I don’t need a ridiculously expensive and obscure cable package to watch? And what’s with not showing the ECU game at all? They put Carolina-Virginia on national TV on a Thursday, and we can’t get a 3 hour slice of Saturday airtime? Boooooooo.

    Booo.

^ Carolina-Virginia are two ACC schools who are flagship Universities of two states and play in the longest uninterupted series in the South. Additionally, this game was slated for the ESPN Thursday night slot BEFORE THE SEASON kicked off.

(As of a few years ago) an NC State-ECU game from the mid-1990s represented the LOWEST TELEVISION RATINGS IN THE HISTORY OF ESPN2. Additionally, this game must be picked up by television during the year. Who the hell would want a C-USA team with a losing record battling an ACC team with no megastar and probably with a losing record?

Love the 7:00 gametime for GaTech, and the 1:00 start for the Saturday after Thanksgiving ECU tilt is fine too.

And I agree, who would want to pick up the ECU-NCSU game, based on current records?

One more for the “who wants to watch NC State and EZU battle it out for NC bragging rights”? The game is for all practical purposes mandated by our state govt. but that in no way means the rest of the country gives a rats rear about giving EZU television coverage (which is really what Terry Holland wants). You can force the scheduling but you cannot force the networks to show it. I think it is great that people will not allow the elected officials of a state MAKE them watch a game in person or on television (does half the capacity of Carter-Finley even show up for this game?). Piss on EZU. You want to get on TV, win 9-10 games a year consistently and not every 10-15 years. THEN you have a legitimate football program.

Isn’t it unusual for TV to pass on a game so far in advance? Maybe in this case it’s not because of the records of the 2 teams and the fact that there are better games out there.

In case you did not know ,the ACC now requires every team to play on the last last Sat. in November. The reason is that they don’t want any team to have a week off before the ACC title game – it would be unfair if 1 team had the week off but not the other team.

SFN: The ECU game could STILL be picked up by a television network. But, the odds are so slim that this will happen that a gametime has been set for 1pm. It could be moved if TV was interested. The question is…which TV would be interested?

From the N&O article: “The Pack is 114th in Division I-A in turnover margin.”

    End of story, IMO.

Aren’t all the Pirate games on local TV down east?

I understand that Foulup tried to have the GT game moved to a Wednesday at 9 o’clock a.m.

Yeah, all the Pie-rat games are on TV. The Walt Disney channel – same as the conference they play in. Whoops! We did lose to Southern Miss didn’t we?

DirecTV with sports package on three TV’s is the same cost as digital cable if not a bit cheaper. That gets you ESPNU.

OK, so let’s leave the ECU game alone. What’s the deal with the GT game? Why is it only available to satellite subscribers?

^^ “The same cost as digital cable”

I’ve got a friend who pays $125/mo for digital cable and road runner, and there are still times where there is nothing on TV. I’m not willing to spend $65+ on a yearly subscription to get ESPNU.

ECU game will- be picked up- for TV. Either- CSTV (their CUSA national cable deal which airs in most markets on the digital tier) or regionally in Eastern North Carolina, via WITN Ch. 7 -NBC affiliate which broadcasts out of Washington, NC (they carry all games CSTV doesn’t take for ECU). My bet is CSTV picks it up.

out of the last 15 years how many times have WE reached that mark?!?!

    answer:4

    “eZu”?

    answer:2

sure their confrence isnt as tough as our… but you know what- that dosnt make us better than them.

wanna know the all time record of us vs. them?!

    14-9

Skip Holtz is doing a lot of good work down there… watch out.

“Yeah, all the Pie-rat games are on TV. The Walt Disney channel – same as the conference they play in. Whoops! We did lose to Southern Miss didn’t we?”

Yeah… we did. the same Southern Miss team that eCu plays this weekend. how much you wanna put on that game being closer than ours was?!

I am soooooo f’ing sick of ignorant comments like these being made about ECU. We have no room to talk!!! if you wanna talk about their slutty girls, and wild cocain filled parties… fine. At least thats the truth… Aside from that we have nothing on them this year at all, and should expect them to be ready. anyone who wants to get rid of a few tickets to that game, I would be GLAD and PROUD to go. All of you who dont go are just going to make it even better the TONS of ECUers that are going to be there. It will be really sad if its the deciding game of us being in a bowl or not.
