Terry Holland Comments In the N&O

We meant to link this up on Thursday morning but forgot. It is a really nice read from one of our favorite ADs, Terry Holland. This last comment really stood out.

Holland said it bothered him that N.C. State would travel to play C-USA team Southern Miss this weekend while “depressed” eastern North Carolina would benefit emotionally and financially from a Greenville visit from a major program. But Holland praised N.C. State and UNC for scheduling trips to Greenville beginning next season.

“They’ve been good to us, and we realize this,” Holland said. “We have to make it win-win. It can’t be asking State to play us to do us a favor. They need to do what’s best for them. It’s on our shoulders.”

So why don’t we cut Western Carolina a “favor” and play in Cullowhee.

Lastly…while we are talking about our favorite Athletics Directors, you really need to click on this if you haven’t already seen it.

I think alot of expressed a dislike for the timing and the subject matter of this link when packbackr04 posted it before. Thank you very much by the way!!! It’s pretty realistic and definitely paints an honest picture of what has honestly taken place. Some probably disagree.

    packbackr04 says: funny stuff

I agree!!! But with alot of truth contained all the way around.

The difference between ECU’s Athletic Director and ours is only that ours is, in fact, a fool.

That would look nice we can use the Robinson precedence.

I would only say Chuck’em if we can get Cowher and that is simply because Cowher is one of the best NFL coaches in modern era.

I do agree with Red above and I have a feeling Chuck’s personality is far more enjoyable if we are playing well. If you really want State to become a national power it could take 15 years. There are genuine concerns regarding Amato ability to put it together but remember he only has 6 years head coaching experience. We had the same issue of no experience with O’Cain and we learned O’Cain didn’t cut it. On the other hand Amato has accomplished at heck of a lot more. I still don’t think Chuck is a very good administrator but that can be learned over time. He is a hell of a recruiter and fundraiser.

    t-t-t

“I still don’t think Chuck is a very good administrator but that can be learned over time.”

I wasn’t really serious in that regard. I was just trying to make a point about how scattered his focus has surely been through all of these changes. You know his opinions have been requested, I’m sure they were readily offered anyway, whether really officially requested either way. But the guy has really tried to make something special here, and his focus on the football field has to have suffered because all of it. Hell, he’s still a rookie in reality, but he’s taken on more than most head coaches will face in thirty five years of coaching college football. And in six years.

That part is done, whether he can separate himself from it now and get back to just coaching football again, I think, is the real dilemma we’re facing now. The problem is that I don’t he ever had enough to really his all of his attentions on just coaching football to begin with.

Maybe, just maybe, he can come back down to earth, focus himself, and really concentrate on the nitty gritty of making this football program everything that he had hoped for to begin with.

    ^Corrections to above.

..The problem is that I don’t “BELIEVE” he ever had “ENOUGH TIME TO SETTLE IN AND GET COMFORTABLE” and really “FOCUS” all of his attentions on football to begin with.

Talking about a lack of focus, what the hell is wrong with my tiny brain today? Geez Louise!

Last post you’ll see from me from me for a few days. Woo who!!!

Terry Holland wasn’t at ECU in 2004 but he should read up on the past games between ECU and NCSU.

From SFN 2004: “Harley ultimately ran for a school record 351 yards and ECU cruised passed Mike O’Cain and the Wolfpack. Late in the fourth quarter, the Pirates scored an un-necessary touchdown to make the score 48-29. Never one to hide from controversy, ECU Head Coach Steve Logan elected to go for two in a blatant attempt to hit the 50 point threshold against the Wolfpack.

The Pirates succeeded in the 2-point attempt and the Ericsson Stadium scoreboard read a painful, and unnecessary “50″ for ECU.”

I wonder if Logan would like to talk about that on his sports talk show on 680 The Bull?

Great point: Call him up and ask him- since it was a blatant attempt to hit 50 pts… or was it just to get up by 21 pts. as he explained it. Pack put the hammer down in CLT 2 yrs ago. Opportunity for more the same Nov. 25 in Cartery-Finley. And SFN- you are arguing apples and hammers in regards to rational for not maxing games with in-state teams vs. each program hosting distant-traveling teams with small traveling parties. No rational for it not being good as long as theres room in the schedule. Again… just win.
