It is going to suck having to endure another coaching search with Jed.

The Evans kid sounds like he’s great against a prevent defense played by 2nd string C-USA defenders.

Teams with seasoned quarterbacks and lots of returnees have an edge against any school with young talent. Regardless of who they are. Witness FSU against CLemson. Clemson has 4 Srs on the OL and they are making a difference. OF course, maybe we can also see that Emporer Bobby also has no clothes. FSU’s offense is deplorable.

BJ…. please don’t shatter the only hope we have. While I see your point, Evans has provided some hope. It’s the first ounce of hope I’ve had since the final bell of the App game.

Come on, Furman! An 0-11 UNC squad would make me feel better.

I have defended Stone. I have pled for patience with Chuck. Wait the season out, said I.

    No more.

If you are down 27 to Southern Miss, in year 7, coming off a loss at home to Akron and a 6-10 ACC record in the last two years (including losses to mediocre UNC teams)…you’re done. The only question is whether the powers that be have the stones to make it happen.

^It certainly isn’t pretty. While I had no way to see the game, it surely seems this team quit in the late stages. Of course, it’d help if the offense could do something.

I have zero faith in Chuck at this point. He’s all talk, nothing more.

Not to be misunderstood – I’m glad Evans played, too. We needed to change something. But he’s no panacea. And playing behind our line against blitzing starters, I still worry he’ll get broken in half.

Akron is better than USM, I think. Serious regression tonight. Akron was concerning. Tonight was ridiculous.

    Here’s Chuck…

We all may owe Stewart Mandel a huge apology.

    HEY CHUCK, we SUCK!

I’m tired of hearing Amato talk about rebuilding as he did in the post game interview with Gary tonight. While the defense is rebuilding (and while I hate that word because its a fact of life for a college coach and thus part of your job is to plan accordingly I’ll throw Chuck a bone on the D), the offense is relatively experienced. There is no excuse for the O being completely inept. And don’t kid yourself… that’s what it is. Trestman’s play calling might be the worst I’ve ever witnessed, but ultimately the self-proclaimed “man” is to be held responsible. Our offense is…. well… offensive.

Anyway we can go back to getting Mazzowned?

  15. packof81 09/16/2006 at 10:55 PM #

Thanks to Chuck our football program has hit bottom and started to dig.

All I have to say is Trestman is terrible. I said that when we hired him. i said that last year. I said it after the ASU game. I said it and many criticized me. I stand behind what I said. I was a big Browns fan when he was in Cleveland and got run out of town. Someone responded by saying he took them to the AFC championship. With an underachieving team, took them inspite of his ineptitude. There is no reason our offense should be this bad. Way too predictable. Put 10 in the box, we cant throw. Even the passes completed were dump offs. Put 10 the box, and they can still cover dump passes and stop them too since the pass goes to the line and no further. Bring back Mazzone? No. But bring in someone who can design an offense most can understand. Trestman is a smart guy, but the offense is too complicated and hindering both Davis (last year) and Stone.

Along with soon-to-be-Mrs. Cardiff, I attended the stage version of “1984” on campus tonight. I’m pleased to say I witnessed/listened to nary a minute of this debacle. The play, incidentally, was excellent.

I turned on the radio in the car just in time to here Chuckles’s press conference, and just started laughing even before I heard the score.

We have been sorely duped, gentlemen, and that is a fact. This coach is a fraud and his program is a joke – where only all the other schools are laughing.

Incidentally, if you are on Orwell fan: Given a choice between Winston’s rats and Chuck’s football, I’ll pick the rats every time. In fact, I am certain watching Chuck’s teams is what awaits in my OWN version of Room 101.

^Fraud is the very term I’ve been thinking for almost a year now. We have a DC masquerading as an HC. The blame should not be placed on Stone’s, Trestman’s, the OL’s, the DL’s or anyone else’s shoulders. The blame is all on Amato’s back. In your 7th year you have no right to talk about rebuilding and losing to two powerhouses the likes of Akron and USM.

If you think Amato is the right man for us, well you are gravely mistaken. His days here, I’m firmly convinced, are now numbered. But the really bad part to this is we have an AD who is just as uninspiring to shepherd us through this and find the right HC.

And if you think the HC doesn’t make that much difference then ponder where FSU was before Bowden, UVA before G. Welsh and Louisville before Petrino. This program is just waiting for the right man to take it to places we’ve never been.

“Trestman’s play calling might be the worst I’ve ever witnessed”

once again Trestman proves that HE is not the man for NC State.
Amato had a bad game as well… but COME ON!!!! Our offensive strategy is HORRIBLE!!

This could get even worse starting Saturday night. I’ve tried to be patient, but I’m starting to think of a coaching candidates wish list.

  21. TomA 09/17/2006 at 2:26 PM #

    Norm Chow..head coach…just thinking out loud…

  22. Texpack 09/17/2006 at 3:08 PM #

Thank goodness a trip with the Cub Scouts saved me the trip to Hattiesburg. Humiliation isn’t my idea of a good time. Let’s just hope Chuck doesn’t turn it around late in the season. We need to move on.

  23. class of 74 09/17/2006 at 3:41 PM #

That media comment, made preseason, about Amato being the one of the worst HC’s around is looking pretty accurate right now.

  24. Wulfpack 09/17/2006 at 4:05 PM #

^I do think there is significant evidence that this may be the case.

  25. WolfPup35 09/17/2006 at 5:30 PM #

CTC is trying to emulate Bowden at FSU..Manage and let the assistants make the decisions. Well, FIRST you gotta hire decent coordinators! NFL don’t mean squat in college, and the west coast offense is old news. Everyone’s seen it, everyone can stop it, and everyone is ready for it. Change things up, throw some of the old offense from ’00, ’01, ’02, ’03..you get my point. I know Stone is not Rivers, but with those offensive plays, hell I could run the ‘Pack to a decent record. Something’s gotta give here, we’re pissed and ready to win!!
