We can’t follow every NC State alumnus playing football in the NFL (especially since the number of Wolfpackers in the NFL continues to grow and grow and grow). Additionally, we can’t focus an inordinate amount of attention on Philip Rivers has he gets ready to take the reigns of the San Diego Chargers.
But, we can’t ignore this blog entry from Seth Wickersham on ESPN.com titled “Rivers drawing rave reviews”. It is for Premium subscribers, so we won’t share any more than the following:
Toward the end of Tuesday’s practice, the ball hadn’t touched the ground in awhile. Rivers was performing surgery on the Chargers’ first-stringers. Sure, it’s only training camp, and Rivers was wearing his red “Don’t hit me” jersey. But he wasn’t missing.
I was impressed. And I wasn’t the only one.
Rivers is amazingly accurate. During practice, I noticed he threw a slant to Gates a little behind him, and after the throw the two were talking on the sideline. “I just wanted him to know why I threw it behind him on his shoulder rather than [behind him on] his numbers,” Rivers said later.
That’s accurate.
