NC State finished #34 in this year’s Directors’ Cup standings, a noticeable impovement from last year’s #51. Congratuations!

Recent Wolfpack finishes have been as follows:

Now – what you do is break down their Director’s Cup finish and determine what you get in terms of finish per dollar spent.

I stand corrected on the shower. The guy I’m thinking about is not a Dean but he is an Executive Director of one of the university departments.

Yes, I think the Alumni building is beneficial to the University as a whole but many of the facilities will not be open to all alumni but to donors or members of clubs. Also the scale of the project is incredible and almost impossible to justify- One of the largest alumni centers in the country? The money raised for this project takes money that alumni may very well donate to other projects that help students.

Just drives me crazy that priorities seem to really screwed up when you build a marbled floor alumni center on centennial campus before you build a library or cafeteria for students.

SFN: This is the first that we’ve heard about NC State not having a library or dining halls for students.

Call me old fashioned to think the university mission is research and education not building clubs and suites for white hairs to sip brandy.

SFN: If the “white hairs” are paying for it and the university is not, how is it negatively impacting the university. It is their money to do with as they please.

I’m not sure that making post season play constitutes “success” with the expanded fields in the NCAA these days (especially when we struggle to beat you-know-who at anything). That’s like saying we’d (or ‘me’ anyway) would be satisfied with last years f’ball season because we went to a bowl.
I say we need to consistently be able to compete with our peers (ie Big 4) regardless of how the Director’s Cup thing shakes out.
The fact still remains that unx has made a decision that we haven’t and that’s to be competitive in every sport they play both men’s and women’s.
    (I know, I know, except f’ball).

You know, if we were competitive with our peers across the board then we actually would be competitive on the Director’s Cup by default!

Is that really possible? Can a school such as NC State, with it’s limited resources, still be considered part of the big Four?

Still only scratching the surface of our potential at 34. LF has a lot to improve upon.
