Lowe Passes Compliance Test

GREAT NEWS!!!

Pack Pride is reporting that new NC State Head Basketball Coach Sidney Lowe has passed the NCAA’s recruiting compliance test. (Link)

Lowe, who officially took over as NC State head coach today, can now recruit off campus during periods designated by NCAA guidelines. Previously, he could only make phone calls and assist with on-campus recruiting prior to passing the NCAA Recruiting Test.

The next Evaluation Period begins July 6, 2006. During an Evaluation Period, it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and playing abililties. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect are permitted.

All those involved with NC State and Coach Lowe deserve a lot of credit for getting the Wolfpack Basketball program to the point where we are today. The whole program navigated a somewhat risky situation with confidence and coollness. After initially setting a start date of July 1, Lowe has officially taken over the program two weeks early with a degree in hand and with the NCAA test behind him.

It is time to look to the future.

It should go as no surprise since Coach Lowe has been someone throughout his years to process an enormous amount of information and achieve great results. Those ney sayers who will never accept his chosen path in earning a degree, nor recognize his record as a pro head coach as non relevant to the situation he was put in charge off, will have to ignore or shrug off this as well. Congrats to Coach, his staff, and to NC State University for getting this started off on the right foot.

In time this man will be viewed in the same light as Case, Sloan and Valvano. Our return to basketball prominence should not be in question with Sidney and staff in charge.

Like someone else said, I like the idea he completed these tasks ahead of schedule.
