TSN – Calipari is the Focus

See this link to DeCourcy’s thoughts. I don’t know about you – and this is just my personal speculation – but that certainly sounds like “one or two days needed to finalize a contract, or negotiate the last few hurdles to a deal.” John Calipari sure as hell isn’t going to “interview” here and be turned down. That’s not to say Calipari still couldn’t turn us down, and pull out before the “interview.”

Let’s hope good news is around the corner!

lets not mix the two…not good

I yearn for Calipari. Sendek, try as we might, was umblemished. TAmato is too damned slick. I need me a SCALP, dammit!

“Cardiff, I adopted “Micky McCarthyâ€? as a username to originally post parody comments. I hate that SOB with the furor of a starving lion.”

Me too – a blast from the past. For the poster who asked, MMC was the former rabidly pro-UNC sports editor of the N&O.

For those not suffering from the ravages of paranoid schizophrenia, “rabidly pro-UNC sports editor of the N&O” = legendary, Pulitzer-nominated hero of local journalism.

  8. RAWFS 04/08/2006 at 10:57 PM #

I wonder if that really is Gregg Doyel or another parody. Then again, the two are indistinguishable anyway…Doyel is a parody of a journalist.

Here’s our two cents on the issue.

Bottom line: if John Calipari and Rick Barnes both call Lee Fowler and offer their services, Fowler should hire Cal and tell Barnes “thanks, but we’ve got our coach.”

RAWFS you’ve said it best – Calipari will bring back the Pasta Connection and State will return to the limelight of NCAA B-ball powerhouses, and Vitale will start talking about all 3 of the triangle teams – Tobacco Road lives! Watch out Roy and K, we’re coming to get you! Go Pack!

  11. BJD95 04/08/2006 at 11:08 PM #

No question, we should take Cal’s acceptance over Barnes’. Moot point, since Barnes ain’t coming, period.

I wonder if the comments were true that earlier last week Calipari’s people were calling and weren’t getting returned. I wonder if its true that we are in talks. I wonder if its true, that the wheels are in motion….

I don’t know what’s going, but if this happens, *drumroll*

    it changes everything.

This is alittle off the subject–but if you will notice in the WRAL sports clip about the “Hodge shooting ” the RBC wasn’t “PACKED”

I’ll bet that will not be the case in the -06/07 season if FOWLER can close the deal….

If we do get Cal, get ready for the unc/duke friendly press to hype our return to our old ways of basketball first everything else second mentallity. The facts may say one thing about Cal but the unc/duke friendly press is more interested in perception.

CASHCOW….I hope you could CARE……….Less what anyone at Duke or UNC thinks…about our Coaching Choice…including the press…I sure don’t give a Big Fat Rats Ass! True WolfPack Fans are use to such attempts…I say if they are upset then FANTASTIC we are doing our job…it will always be something so we need to not be concerned. In addition, once we get Cal then we should be looking at Chuck next to see what we can do to have better performance.

    GO WOLFPACK!!

Julius Hodge got shot people. Heart, soul, ressurector of this team. And you still focus on “OMG, who is gonna be the coach”. Statesfansnation has been deleted from my favorites. how the hell could the next coach be more important than Jules? I am saddened by this…….

Caulton Tudor is reporting today (Sunday) that Barnes has removed his name for consideration for the State job. Here’s the link:

So, yes, we need Calipari. Or maybe Billy Donovan….

  18. wxpack 04/09/2006 at 7:19 AM #

I think we are in the home stretch. Things will happen fast during the next 24 to 48 hours. I think Monday is the day we will know for sure about Calipari.

  19. TNCSU 04/09/2006 at 7:21 AM #

    Julius is doing fine.

Now, how is Cal doing?? Sad when I wake up and log on to this website. My wife thinks I don’t have a life anymore. She’s from Colorado, where they shot our man, Julius, so what does she know about Tobacco Road Hoops!

Will we have an announcement tomorrow?

  21. TNCSU 04/09/2006 at 7:38 AM #

Let’s have one TODAY, so we can talk about it over the water cooler tomorrow!!!!

  22. Tired in Florida 04/09/2006 at 8:16 AM #

…it would be really nice if we could get a manifest for that flight….wonder what else would be going on in Memphis on Sunday morning???….

  23. TNCSU 04/09/2006 at 8:32 AM #

Is it going to Memphis? Looks like it’s just going to RDU — is it a stopover?? We’ll see, I guess.

  24. Tired in Florida 04/09/2006 at 8:35 AM #

…..it’s an IFR flight plan for N88MF – leg one to KRDU and leg 2 to KMEM scheduled to depart RDU at 0900……

I first heard about flightaware.com about a month ago from a friend at work who is a Cowboy fan. Their scout.com site was tracking Jerry Jones’ plane to see if he was meeting with TO.

It brings another whole level of speculation to the internet, doesn’t it?
