Memphis Could Have Avoided This Mess

In most cases if John Calipari were to stay quiet for this long, someone might want to shove a cell phone under his nose to see if he showed any signs of life.

This is different. There can be only two reasons why he has maintained public silence for such a long period:

1) He’s seriously considering becoming the head coach at NC State, but it’s a tough decision because of the great team he’d be leaving behind;

2) He’s torturing the Memphis administration with a long wait because certain people were foolish enough to believe he couldn’t/wouldn’t leave for another job.

As long as Ced doesn’t hire an agent…he’ll be fine. I would test the draft waters too…see what the response is then come on back for one more year with the Pack and raise my draft stock to being a lottery pick.

    I don’t suppose there was a 5pm press conference that I missed…

Ced is an idiot if he’s leaving now. He’s got so much potential but needs more time to develop. Right now he’ll be lucky to get picked in the 2nd round. Give him a year more (hopefully under Cal) and he’s a lottery pick. I’ve heard his father’s surgery might be impacting this decision, so I guess I can’t rag on him too much, but seriously, he should think long and hard about this

Re: Cedric… We’ve heard that he has ill family members, and it’s kinda falling on his shoulders to support the family. If it’s really a hardship kind of deal… well, it puts a different spin on things.

  12. Packof82Cards 04/11/2006 at 4:09 PM #

    Says he’s hiring an agent.

  13. cam 04/11/2006 at 4:10 PM #

state players will never learn. Just look at Josh powell. Josh powell would be so much richer today if he had come back 1 more year, instead he barely got in the leage after 3 years, and now rides the pine

  14. JimmyVguy 04/11/2006 at 4:10 PM #

Oh what a mistake…these damn agents need to stop feeling these guys heads with bullshit. Poor Ced…he is ruining his future.

“Simmons averaged 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds as a sophomore. His statistics were limited by minutes (27 per game) and NC State’s conservative offensive style.”

which was limited because he was always fouling people..

    bad move Ced, bad move…
Tyler Hansborough doesn’t go but Cedric Simmons does– isn’t that reversed?

  16. Wilmpack 04/11/2006 at 4:11 PM #

Jeremy. It’s General Parts. Last Night was MCM Transport.

  17. cam 04/11/2006 at 4:12 PM #

it makes me sick, and that isn’t just bacause i am a state fan, it is josh powell all over again, and i hate to see it

  18. Jeremy Hyatt 04/11/2006 at 4:12 PM #

the timing is terrible for state also..

I’m sorry Cedric, but you’re not that good, and also you should be happy Herb is gone because next year you would be the center of attention like Sheldon Williams.

    Guys:
I’m finally back. I sent JC’s wife Sue Ellen a dozen Wolfpack Red longstem roses via the Net for delivery tomorrow…leaving no stone unturned.
Re:the General Parts plane, didn’t that plane have a State connection when somebody noticed it the other day?

  22. skicarib 04/11/2006 at 4:13 PM #

unfortunately Ced’s dad is rumored to be ill and need of a lot of med attention, i would say that’s driving him more than anything

  23. Jeremy Hyatt 04/11/2006 at 4:13 PM #

wasn’t it a couple coming back from vacation?

  24. Packof82Cards 04/11/2006 at 4:14 PM #

Hurry Cal….talk so you can talk Ced out of leaving.

  25. Jeremy Hyatt 04/11/2006 at 4:14 PM #
