NC State to Play…Cal (again)

* NC State will make its 5th straight NCAA Tournament appearance this season against old foe – the Cal Bears. Cal knocked the 2003 version of NC State Basketball from the NCAA Tournament in overtime.

* NC State is seeded #10 and the Bears enter as the #7 seed. The two teams are in the “Atlanta Region” and will play in Dallas, TX. Dallas sessions will be played on Friday and Sunday.

* The winner will most likely match-up with the #2 seed, Texas Longhorns. We told you about this potential just a few hours ago – link here. You really should spend more time here.

* State avoids a match-up with UNC-W because the Seahawks secure a seed better than the Wolfpack. (Just wait until next year!!!)

* State has earned the following seeds in their “big” run of five straight NCAA Tournaments:
2002 – #7 seed
2003 – #9 seed
2004 – #3 seed
2005 – #10 seed
2006 – #10 seed

* Those of you that support Herb Sendek more than you support NC State, please tell us more about the “progress” and “improvement” that our program is achieving in your delusional minds?

* In an interesting twist of fate, both John Calipari’s Memphis Tigers and Rick Barnes’ Texas Longhorns will play in the Dallas pod. Both of these coaches rank exceptionally high on knowledgeable Wolfpackers target list for potential replacements of Herb Sendek if Coach Sendek were to find another job this season. It is nice the cheap ass Lee Fowler can save money on interviewing expenses this week.

…developing…

    Dear Sammy,

I remember 1979 as well………..DUNK. Silence in the barn.

To all the sickoes in the so-called Wolfpack Nation like 4ncst8 who think that the way to get a Coach like Barnes and players like Hansbrough into your program-

You don’t accomplish this by trashing 5 straight playoff appearances, booing the team on our home court and wishing for a 30 point loss to attract a new coach. Not to mention all the trash talk by some of these sickoes behind our own bench at the ACC tournment.

For this tremendous Wolfpack Nation I say, let’s put some of these sickoes on a special reservation.

I am 100% behind getting rid of Herb, but some of these names being bandied about are laughable. I am glad you guys wouldn’t be selecting the next coach. Rick Barnes can’t coach offense any better than Herb can. He just gets better players. Look at the talent he has on this year’s team (Aldridge, Tucker, Buckman, etc.). It is second only to UCONN. With that talent, he has been blown out by several opponents this year and virtually refused to accept a 1 seed that everyone wanted to give them.

John Calipari? This guy is a complete dirtball. There is no way we should take somebody like this. I am as competitive, if not more, than the next guy, but I would not stoop to this level to win.

    Bob Huggins? See Calipari.

In my opinion, we missed the boat last year with Pearl and Matta. If we are going to dream, it would be Mark Few.

A lot of the Rick Barnes people are much less talkative today. Texas went 10 minutes without a field goal during crunch time yesterday, resulting in a 37 point turnaround from their last game against Kansas.

Jason – Agree w/ you. Barnes is in my Top 4 – but I’ve got Few, Montgomery, and Donovan in there as well.

Barnes b’ball can sometimes be ugly – it’s usually very inconsistent offensively. That said, he’s methodically building a power in Tejas – ugly games and offense aside.

I will say this to the wolfpack nation salivating over Barnes. If you want to see exciting offenses – Barnes ain’t your guy.

    Jason:
Re: Mark Few at Gonzaga – his contract has been extended to 2015.
Re: Herb vs Rick Barnes in Dallas – It ain’t gonna happen, because Herb and his Qualude Offense won’t get past Cal.
Please elaborate on the reasons you dislike of Calipari.
    Thanks.

Ken, call me a sickoe if you want, but for all of those who think that Herb Sendek is the answer for NC State basketball, with all due respect to you, you’re simply wrong. It’s been proven the last ten years. He has drained the life out of NC State basketball with his demeanor, lack of emotion, offensive style, consistent losses to Duke and UNC, and never winning the ACC, nor contending for the national title.

Ken, you can resort to namecalling, but the truth will set you free, baby.

^I think he’s still upset from 1974’s Final Four so let him call all the stupid names he wants!

    Wolfpack Willie:

John Calipari wins by recruiting guys that would not be admitted to the ACC. This is why he chooses to coach in such leagues as the A-10 and C-USA. He could have had any number of jobs, but chose Memphis because he knew he would have a free reign on recruiting whomever he likes.

To: 4NCST8 and class of ’74

Just trying to be helpful fellows and if I can help the program and cure a few sickoes in the process as well all the better.

Just want to remind all concerned that John Wooden turned down his alma mater, Purdue, because of the way the school and fans treated the previous coach and players. Soooo-he went on to win 10 of 12 national championships at UCLA.

In the two years he did not win the NCAA in this stretch- one was to NC State and the other to Texas Western.

Who do we think will want the NC State job after Herb?

Some have suggested the former Cincinnati coach. Probably about whom we deserve- don’t you think.
