Cowher is in town this weekend speaking to a HS coaching clinic at the Murphy Center. Word around NC State is that he used Wendell Murphy’s plane to get here.
While saying he will definitely return as Steelers coach next year, Cowher, 48, and his wife, Kaye, plan to spend more time in Raleigh and ultimately settle here. They recently bought a $2.5 million home on 1.55 acres off Norwood Road in North Raleigh.
Cowher, who has two years remaining on his contract, wouldn’t speculate on when he might retire. “I take it one year at a time and I’m going from there,” he said.
The Cowhers have three daughters — all basketball players.
Meagan plays at Princeton, Lauren just completed a standout high school career and Lindsay is a high school freshman.
Like mother, like daughters. Kaye and her twin sister, Faye, played at N.C. State and also in a women’s professional league.
Bill Cowher attends as many of his daughters’ games as possible. “I’ve spent a lot of time in the gym since the Super Bowl,” he said.
