Twenty-eight bowls is too many, but here is the schedule nontheless. There is not much reason to watch before Colorado tries to recover from embarrassment against Clemson on the 27th. Of the fourteen teams bowling before then, only two are from BCS conferences. Of the 42 teams playing on or after the 27th, only 5 are not from BCS conferences. (Note: Here I’m using the BCS definition which includes the Big East.
As expected, the best games are crammed into the 2nd with all 6 games worth watching that day. Otherwise, Oregon vs. OU and LSU vs. Miami are the best non-BCS games.
Of course, the Rose Bowl is the game everyone wanted. No one can question that these two teams look better than everyone else. Unfortunately, its also hard to question that the Pac 10 and Big 12 are the two worst BCS conferences from top to bottom. In fact, both team’s closest games came versus out of conference opponents – UT vs. OSU and USC versus ND. USC’s second closest game was against an 8-4 mid-major. Each team throttled their best in conference foe (over Texas Tech by 35 & over Oregon by 32). As we all know, the second best conference foes (Colorado and UCLA) were even worse. No one else in either conference is worth mentioning. However, regardless of the regular season competition, both these teams are loaded, especially on offense, and this should be a fun game to watch.
