Lee Fowler speaks again

I know this is a surprise but our intrepid AD held another interview.
There are some interesting quotes that tell alot about our athletic department.

Lee had this to say “Championships are important,” he said, “but I don’t think it’s a negative year if you don’t win the championship, if you’ve had a good year and gone to the NCAAs.” This explains the perception that NCSU does not strive to win titles. It all comes from the top.

But I think the most telling quote actually comes from Wendell Murphy, he says “He’s the strongest advocate for our athletic program of any athletic director I can remember.” This explains the haughty attitude that is Lee’s trademark. He knows the big dog is in his kennel.

The thing is, you can also see things that Murphy apparently did *not* say. Murphy’s comment was as political as any I have ever seen from a NCSU booster.

Bottom line is that it will be business as usual at NC State, and usual=mediocre.

Facilities are nice…….having an Athletics Department that ranks in the bottom 3rd of the NEW ACC is deplorable. Having an Athletics Deparment that ranks outside the Top 50 of Division 1A is deplorable.

Especially when your AD stated almost 4 years ago that his #1 goal was “…to be a top three program in the conference in every sport.”

So nearly 4 years have passed……many facility upgrades have been completed……yet how many times have we produced a Top 3 conference finish during Lee’s glorious reign?

To be fair…..Lee said his #1 goal at that time was facilities, but that his overall “charge” was to be Top 3 in the conference.

Garbage. It’s completely Lee’s M.O. to say that he demands excellence; that he wants success; that he maintains high standards. All anyone has to do is look at the volleyball team, the football team, the basketball team to have any true idea how high the bar is set. Again, if it wasn’t for wrestling, track and cross-country, we wouldn’t have ANY conference winners over the last five years. Ridiculous. I’m hope Oblinger gets rid of Fowler and hires a trained circus monkey. At least we could criticize Amato then!!

[…] To be fair…I thought that his comments were pretty good. The problem is like the little boy who cried wolf — he just talks and talks and talks and talks SO MUCH that nothing he says really has much value. There is nothing ’special’ to hearing from the NC State Athletics Director since we here from him infinitely more than other ADs.. […]
