WDNC AM 620AM In Durham Turns To Sports Talk

Sort of a wierd move. 620AM used to have a simulcast the signal of 570AM. They are owend by the same company (Curtis Media) that owns 850 the Buzz. From the article, it sounds like they are going to have their own sports programming during the day.

850 is not owned by Curtis Media. That deal fell though due to an FCC ruling against multiple ownerships of X number of stations. 850 is owned by McClatchey Brfoadcasting(no relation to the owner of the N&O). They own several staions in the SE, including one in ASHEVILLE, I believe. They will be leasing 620 from Curtis and chnaging the call letters to WBUL, or something like that (nicknamed 620 The Bull. There will be no simulcasting with 850…all new sports programing.
