In the January 14, 2005 edition of The Sporting News, “Scouts Views” commented:
NC State’s Andrew Brackman is emerging as a standout freshman forward in the ACC. He’s grown at least 2 inches since this time last year and has added pounds. Given NC State’s structured system and the fact Brackman came from a regimented high school program, his transition has been rather easy. This is his first year of focusing on hoops rather than baseball, and his long-term potential, because of his overall skill, is considerable.
