AP: Sit, wait part of Rivers’ course

Philip Rivers’ introduction to life in the NFL was the same as for most newly rich rookies.
His veteran San Diego Chargers teammates took him along to dinner at a fancy steakhouse in La Jolla and, as is tradition, made the young multimillionaire quarterback pick up the check – for a whopping $25,000.
The Chargers haven’t needed Rivers since.

But, I’m not sure that Lee Fowler knows much about him, either. That is the problem.

    I don’t follow this. We:
â–  don’t know if Fowler knows much about him
â–  don’t if Fowler has considered him
â–  don’t know if Fowler has contacted him
â–  don’t know if Dixon has turned us down

And yet this article indicts Fowler for failing on the Dixon front?

Still testing HTML on this blog:

^ You still don’t get it do you?

I understand the frustration and anger at the non-review. It would have been great for the call to have been reviewed and reversed.

But I’m trying to look at this with a big-picture view. Pre-season I had us going 6-6 with probable wins against ASU, Akron, Southern Miss, Wake, UNC-Ch, and ECU. An overestimate by would put us at 5-7, right? Well, the loss was to Akron. Now it could get really ugly. Thus my consternation. Sigh.

All the coaches that came in in 2000 and 2001 — their programs are hitting the adolescent stage. It’s the awkward teenage years of the program. You look at Clemson whose coaching staff was hired one year before Amato’s first year at N.C. State. A few years ago they were done and people said that program was dead in the water. Then they beat Florida State and rallied. And now their program is strong. But someone is going to flinch in the ACC, and when they do, whoever it is, is going to set their program back.

What did the vaunted DBR have to say about the game?

From Laettner’s two legendary game winners to Jeff Capel’s amazing near half-court shot to keep the Carolina game alive to Sean Dockery’s miracle last season, Duke fans have a lifetime of memories. Now we can add Scheyer-to-McClure to the list as well.Because the end of the game was so dramatic, people, including us, will start at the end. And the end was spectacular: Clemson rushed back from a 66-61 deficit to tie the game on a clutch three pointer after a miscommunication between Josh McRoberts and Greg Paulus. That was when Jon Scheyer took the ball and headed down court to deliver a brilliant pass to a streaking Dave McClure for the buzzer-beating winner.

Aren’t you missing something there DBR? They did finally manage to talk about what everyone else except I guess Duke fans are talking about. Some 869 words into the article they finally manage to, uh, mention it:

… we’re sure there’s going to be some controversy about clock management. We haven’t really gone back to look at the play, but we know there will be some discussion of it.

. Ah, Duke (and UNC-Ch) fans.
