Echoed by the Cowdog, Frank. Few knew what You went thru after ’72.
You didn’t run with the Ratpack and there was a bunch of us that saw it and a bunch that didn’t.

Next time I see you, I’d like to make some ammends.

    Packpower,
Back then he was more or less stripped of his power when Seimans was made SID.

He didn’t run with Sloan, Esposito and Seimans (the “Ratpack”, named after the Hollywood bunch.) Alot of us didn’t know what he did, but he was everywhere ya’ turned.
He was nicknamed Weasel. I think he knew that, too.

What we didn’t know of course, was that he was turning into the “Keeper” and we didn’t know the things he was doing for us in the name of ambassador.

So, in a sense the guy didn’t get the respect he deserved. Fortunately, time has changed that.

Cowdog – I didn’t meet Mr. Weedon until the summer of 1974 but he was always respected by the people who counted (even in 1974). I think they knew the great job he was doing in a first class manner. I knew that Sloan and Esposito were very tight but didn’t know that Ed Seaman ran with them. (Frank had hired Ed Seaman from the Fayetteville Observer.)

Whether it was hard work or common sense/intelligence, Frank did an outstanding job as Associate AD and learned the ropes of how to run an Athletic Department. I have been told by more than one knowledgeable person that it was a huge mistake not to name Frank AD in 1986.

Trivia – I believe one of Frank’s mentors was the legendary Joe Blair, who was the long-time SID for Maryland and then the Redskins. When there were some management changes at the Skins in the early 1980s, Joe Blair “retired” and returned to Maryland as Assistant SID under another legendary SID, Jack Zane. There was some real talent hailing from the Maryland SID office in the late 1950s/early 1960s.
