This Plane Was At Charlotte Douglass This Afternoon

Friend of SFN called us tonight and saw this plane sitting on the runway at Charlotte Douglass. Wonder who they were meeting with in Charlotte this afternoon? Spurrier was in Durham this afternoon. Think they are going after Grobe?

Marty Schottenheimer lives in Charlotte. Personally, I am hoping he gets a job in Charlotte next year. Maybe GM with Cowher as head coach?

Hahaha. This is awesome. I absolutely love this. It brings back memories of the basketball coaching search!!

    Butch, Marty, or Grobe

Spurrier is probably on the queer Fuqua search committee. He told them Franks would be a good choice so that makes him reliable.

I heard the ball coach was in Wilmington recruiting an OL.

Arkansas is really at a loss for a coach if Tubberville turns them down.

Tommy is negotiating a new contract, or I guess its an extension. Everyone expected it to get done today – it didn’t. the local sports guy was just saying “Ole Miss to Auburn made sense, but Auburn to Arkansas . . . I just don’t get it folks.”
So – the rumors continue to swirl. Lets hope it screws up his recruiting some way.

N88UA’s number has been blocked at the request of the owner. I suspect that Butch has driven down to see the Panthers play and visit with some UA friends.

I don’t think Arkansas really planned for things to work out this way. Nutt and Davis may leave them high and dry.

What about John Fox? I heard he was coaching for his job this year.

$2 mill and it can be afforded.

I love bringing up the Arkansas job because it’s like scraping your nails across the blackboard for tarry, Carver, S&pp and others. Not that he really will leave – but it gets a rise. And there is always the chance — he will. And that feeds the paranoia of not having a coach like Dean or Roy who bleeds Carolina blue. Not for a Hessian who will always yearn for home. There must be some guy out there who wants to come and stay at NC — ignore the jump to 4 mill and just likes being an NC coach. THose days are sadly over.

Tommy T is in Arkansas duck hunting. Three stations in Arkansas are saying the deal is done, other folks are saying the deal in on the table.
Tommy said before he left that he is taking his time in getting the new Auburn contract done, and his agent says he’s not going – but he is in Dallas at the Cowboy game, as are several Hog boosters, and I believe they said the U of A AD.
This just fresh from the Birmingham 10 news, wednesday evening.
    So we shall see.

So a second update – and all the Alabama rumors
Shula and Cutcliff are both reported candidates for the Dook job.
Tommy & Arkansas – He told one of the local sports anchors that he wanted to be at Auburn as long as they wanted him. A Little Rock TV station says there is no contract, but the agreement is in place.
Major Applewhite, Bama’s qb coach is now in the running for the Houston job.
There you go – I’ll try and get an update on Nebraska tomorrow.

spurrier was in Durham wednesday, but i heard he is on some comittee to help hire a coach, not really a candidate himself. He was down here in New Bern on Wednesday as well, recruiting New Bern HS tailback Kevin Reddick for USC. kid is nasty at running back.

Applewhite is also the Offensive Coordinator. I thought that, but wasn’t sure so didn’t put it. I’ve checked since, and that’s the case.
