Gary Williams and the University of Maryland has added one of the best Junior College players in the country to this season’s recruiting class.
The Terps got a commitment from 6-foot-1, 175-pound, combo guard Parrish Brown from Chicago, Illinois. He averaged 22 points per game, five assists and five rebounds and was rated as a Top 25 junior-college prospect by several recruiting services. He was a JUCO All-Region IV selection in 2005 and a candidate for All-America honors.
Maryland, who attended back to back Final Fours a couple of years ago and won a National Championship in 2002, failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 14 years this season. The Terps finished this season with an identical record in conference play as NC State (7-9), and also finished ahead of the Pack in the RPI (UMd #57, NC State #63). But, the Terps were swept by State and were struggled mightily down the stretch by losing their last four games (including an ACC Tournament first round loss to Clemson).
